Desert Pines Golf Club
About
Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

One and Done
I paid over $600 for a foursome for an old, municipal golf course with unranked bunkers, pitted furry greens, trashed out golf carts with big holes in the seats and loose steering, no course map on the score card or on the cart, and a rude Marshall.
The only highlights were the lovely bartender, who served us hot coffee with a smile, and the cart service attendant, who was also very attentive and punctual.
Considering the Dye pedigree, this could be a great course. I won't return.
Hi hdfuller, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear about your experience at the golf course. We appreciate your kind words about our staff members and will address your concerns. We hope to have another opportunity to exceed your expectations. Elijah G. - AGM
Better than the reviews
The old saying....never judge a book by its cover....
Well in this case, never read a review and not see for yourself.....Some of the reviews this course received was not applicable.
1. The course is municipal GC, but it is quite a challenge for the average to above average golfer.
2. With some TLC...carts and conditions on a few holes can be improved.
3. Lots of birds and geese all over the course which comes with 💩
4. But the customer service I received was better than plenty of the high end golf courses in the city.
I throughly enjoyed my experience at the course and will play again very soon.

Bellisimo
I’ve been lucky to play this course for a long time over the years and Las Vegas is such a beauty it’s fun it’s hard and it’s easy it’s closer to downtown on the strip
Perfect, pro shop. Unbelievable, like always.

Slow! Unbelievable slow! I DO MEAN SLOW!
Played here a year ago. Forgot how slow it was or I would not have played. Pace of play is 20 minutes per hole with typical wait of ten minutes on tee box.
This time we actually drove off after 7 holes of play and 2 hours and 45 minutes.
No marshal and most are waiting for the green to clear on the short par 4s though the cart sign says to hit an iron shot short on 5 holes.
Hi Kirkhorton1040, we're sorry to hear about your experience on the course. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will address the pace of play issue with our team to ensure a better experience for all our golfers. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Elijah G. - AGM

Worth $40 a round not $129
The course layout is good and the conditions were ok. The traps need sand. The condition of the facilities such as the washrooms were poor. There was no marshal and pace of play was terrible. Many twosomes. We could have played Paiute for the same price. If you can get this course for $40 a round, it would be ok. Great weather.
Hi u000007126375, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We appreciate your comments on the course layout and conditions. We apologize for the issues you experienced with the traps and facilities. Your input on the pace of play and pricing is valuable to us. We will work to address these concerns. Elijah G. - AGM

Greatest tune up course for vakue
Small, tactical, challenging, forgiving… the perfect hidden gem in town for a fun round or to shake off some rust.

Out early
First one out as a single and had the course to myself. Staff were friendly. Green held well and rolled fine but were a touch slow.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave this kind review. We're glad you had a great day at Desert Pines Golf Club. Hope to see you back again soon. Bill W- General Manager
Needs work
I’m guessing that this was a nice facility at one time. That time is not now. Nothing worked well and the whole place just seems tired. We did an all inclusive package so we didn’t have to travel with clubs. For the price, it was very disappointing. The clubs were worn out. Grips were slick. The staff was very friendly but the operation was just tired. Many cart paths were broken up badly. Greens are rough and nobody repairs ball marks. My summary is that they just charge too much for what you get so people aren’t happy. I would look elsewhere if I had to do it again. The worst part was the pace. Our round was just over 5 hours. They had started but no Marshalls to keep things moving. It’s hard to enjoy a round when you wait 15-20 on every tee. On one hole they completely ruined the tips by letting someone install a billboard hanging over the course. Shameful.
Hi 67heaven, thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for the issues you experienced during your visit. We appreciate your kind words about our friendly staff. We'll take your concerns into consideration and work towards improving the overall experience. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Used to be nice?
Non-residents pay $150 for an unkept course? The driving range wash trash, the clubhouse ok. The bathroom ceiling (women's) was leaking,
while playing I just got the feeling like this used to be a great course. The rolling hills fairways were nice the length is short, greens dualted. Found out two things. 1) Pete Dye designed. 2) locals told me course sched for closure 2025. Don't know if true.
Hi Anthony, thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for the issues you experienced during your visit. We appreciate your compliments on the fairways and greens. We take your comments seriously and will address them with our team. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Great design, super friendly staff
So fun to play Pete Dye courses that require you to strategize. Both hole 3 and hole 5 are Par 5's with water surrounding the green, making for challenging approaches. Hole 5 and hole 9 both have water on the right side that will punish righties who slice. There's short par 4's that require you to play target golf. There's bunkers everywhere, and slopes on fairways and greens that you need to be aware of. Just a beautiful, fun design.
I played this course years ago pre-COVID. The course has had financial issues and in 2022 was approved for closure. The course not in a good part of town, is priced high, and many locals won't make the drive to play it. I saw an open tee sheet and went out as a single and was able to play with no one in front of me.
Greens were well watered - very soft - and rolled well. Fairways were in good condition post-overseed. Fairways were actual grass, and not the sticky painted rough used in other desert courses. Bunkers had great sand. There are water hazards on every other hole which is a rarity for desert golf.
Carts had restricted turning radius which was frustrating given several holes that required 180 degree turns. Foam padding was popping out. No GPS, 2 bottles of water provided. Towels provided. Course runs along a highway and several major roads and vehicle noise is present.
Hi u314161622535, thank you for sharing your experience playing our Pete Dye course! We're glad you enjoyed the strategic challenges and beautiful design. We appreciate your feedback on the course conditions and amenities. We'll take note of your comments regarding carts and strive to improve. We hope to welcome you back soon! Elijah G.
