First time for everything
I play this course 3 or 4 times a month. I absolutely love the layout and how this course keeps calling you back out to try to beat it. Today was a most unfortunate day and I had the most unsatisfying round here. I always play as a single and have no problems joining another group. Today I started out by myself and caught up to the twosome ahead of me. They nicely waived me through so that I could keep my own pace and rhythm. The front nine was nice and easy at a staggering fast pace. Upon getting to the 10th tee I encountered a foursome that were just getting to the green. As my play caught up to them I discovered that over the next 7 holes I had to wait nearly 10-12 minutes for every shot. These guys were lining up each other's putts and rather than putting out and one guy in particular stood over each putt for 2-3 minutes before he hit and missed badly. They knew I was behind them and never once waived me through. It was even so bad that on 18 they were lining up each other's 7 and 8 shots. Again the guy stayed over his ball for 2-3 minutes before he made his 9th or 10th shot into the hole. My game was done after 10 with having to wait so long for every shot. They even had other 4somes catch up to me who were not even in the parking lot when I teed off at 1. I want a refund or a comp round. This was more than pathetic. They need a Marshall to run the course and speed up slow players with no etiquette. I love this course and it's staff but today was a day to forget. Very very dissatisfied. Do play here. You won't be disappointed. Par 62 executive course with plenty of par 3 length from the tips and great conditions. Beautiful scenery and top notch staff.
Poor course conditions.
Auduban has really fallen into awful condition. Most of the greens are absolutely terrible and practically unplayable. They also had tee boxes that were in such poor conditions, that we had to hit off a mat. Even if they are working on repairs, it will be years before this course will be back to great conditions. I was also very surprised of how crowded it was, because with the rates they were charging and the course being in those poor conditions, I’m surprised that there were so many golfers. I do not recommend, to anyone, playing this course.
Audubon Park Golf Course
I’m not sure what happened. I played here several months ago and it was fine. This time the greens were the worst I’ve seen on any golf course in the world-literally craters in some spots, and half the green dead dirt!
Terrible
had 5 greens moved to fairway as real greens too horrible. The rest of greens pitiful and sand traps had thin coating of sand over concrete like base.
!st Time for Partners
My regular group wanted to play the course I have not played since 2004. We arrived about an hour early and the place was packed. The pro shop was in temp trailor but was weell stocked. The pro told us they had problems with the greens and if we played a few holes and were not happy he would issue us a rain check. the t boxes and fairways were lush, the greens did have problems but you could still putt on them. The pro told us to go ahead and get it line and the starter let us go off early. the views are beautiful and even though it was packed our pace of play was good. Even with greens having problems we had a great time. I read many reviews that were negative and it just goes to show that golfers are spoiled or maybe they just play perfect courses, We got our moneys worth and had a great time. the cart girl made plenty of rounds and there was an ice chest on the cart. Yoy have to by beer but you can bring soda's and water/ if not for rough greens it would have been a solid 5.
Confusing
The course kind of winds around and there were a couple of holes with temporary greens which no one informed me. Either at the Pro Shop or at the 1st tee starters box. It was a wonderful day out and my round was only 3 hours so that was good.
It could have been perfect but...
Visiting some friends treated them to a round. Not one green was playable (wet mud or dry cracked mud) and at least 2 flags placed at fake fringe green (should have been all of them). Stopped scoring after hole 2. Half of the sand traps were either solid or holding 6"+ standing water. No way this was the result of one rainy New Orleans day. Nice sights. Nice day. got a lot of chipping practice in. 3 stars because not a complete disaster
OK for the price
Fairways in great condition. Greens horrible, the weather has been not cooperating. The club house and restaurant were excellent. The menu is nice food is great.
Horrid greens, moved greens, no communication
I've played here multiple times. Audubon is charging people full price for "greens" that are legitimately mostly mud/dirt. 80-90% of "greens" are this way. They also have two greens that have been moved up into the fairway. No mention of either of these at check-in. Last time I played here an entire hole was shut down so I didn't even get to play a full round. Not sure if I'll play here again.
Course in bad shape
I usually love Audubon but the course is in horrible shape as you all know… should not be charging full price.
Don’t waste your money
The course might be in the worst condition I’ve ever seen for a course that was actually open. The greens had no grass on them. Literally none. It was mud and moss on every single green. Such a shame becuase the course is in a beautiful area. But this course shouldn’t cost $10 to play in the shape it’s in, let alone 40 to walk and 65 to ride. Absolutely absurd.
Terible Shape
Greens are devoid of grass and sand traps are devoid of sand. Twice I have hit into the traps with one ball bouncing sky high and landing on the green and other bouncing 30 yards off to the left of the green. They have actual cement in the sand traps.
Looks to me as if the greens keeper mix the wrong batch of something, Can't see how you can lose all 18 greens in the exact same manner.
Fairways and surrounds are fine so there's that.
Poor, un-playable greens
Greens were not playable. Hard packed muddy greens full of divots. No sand in bunkers were also hard as concrete. Would recommend playing another course in the area. Not worth the $45 green fee.
Great Potential, Needs Attention to Detail
I've played this coarse several times. Playing tomorrow
with a friend of mine who won a 4-some at a blind auction.
I'm hearing that the greens are in horrible condition. They were not so good last time I played. ALSO, the SAND TRAPS are no more than concrete pits. I destroyed a sand wedge last time there. When I hit in a sand trap, I now elect to take a free drop rather than hit out of the concrete pit with a very thin layer of sand.
Why don't they spend a little $ and buy some sand and maintain this place.
The coarse has a beautiful layout and is very scenic in Audubon Park. SOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL
Great potential spoiled by diseased greens
Fun track with a nice variety of holes. Sadly 10 of 18 greens were bald from fungus infestation. 4 greens had some grass and the remaining 4 greens were about 50 percent covered. None were really puttable. I don't think the greens can be saved.
Beautiful course in the middle of nature
Not only was this course beautiful it is surrounded by so many types of birds-ducks, swans, just awesome. I had a great time even though I sent many balls for a swim!
I had the same think happen with a twosome holding up our threesome and two foursomes behimd us. They were practice putting after finishing the hole. I called the clubhouse and told them they were heading to 16. The Marshall showed up immediately and rode on the butts all the way in. Love this course and play 25% of my rounds there. I usually find a good online price. When playing as a single, I usually stay behind the group in front and meet and play with whomever catches up to me. Always seems to be nice folks either local or visitors.
Thanks for your review and comments, we are very sorry about your pace of play issues and will do our best to improve in this area! Thanks and we hope to see you again!
