Nestled within the Colorado Rockies, Grand Elk Golf Club in Granby, Colo. offers stunning mountain views from every hole. The course has a links-layout inspired by the inland golf courses of the British Isles. The low-lying vegetation and gently rolling terrain lend a heathland feel to the course. The fairways are wide and undulating and the large greens have ample contours as well. The layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that are straightforward and others that twist into tricky doglegs, but nearly all are flanked with sod-faced bunkers. There are more than 60 bunkers coming into play throughout Grand Elk Golf Club, and water hazards come into play on four holes. Besides just being a fun and challenging round, the magnificent views that stretch across the snow-capped peaks of the Continental Divide are not to be missed.

Nice track

We had a good time playing this course today. As others have said, the wind really comes in the play, and you better keep it in the fairway. The clubhouse let us off a little early which was great. Unfortunately there was a foursome playing a five hour round on a Thursday and we could not get through them. Sure wish we would have seen a Marshall on the course. Great value for a golf now hot deal. Although the views are really good, I wouldn't consider this a true mountain course.

Rain free round

Prairie dog central. Lost a couple of golf ball down critter holes.
I played the course better than the last time a couple years ago. Didn’t lose as many balls in the native grasses as before. Learned the importance of finding the fareways.

Beautiful day

There were a few rough spots on the greens, but for this time of the year, they were in good shape. Great day, but a little windy. All the staff was great.

Fairways

You gotta hit greens and fairways. The native grasses are thick and tall and nearly impossible to find balls in it. Other than, the course is in perfect shape and well laid out.

Very enjoyable

Great Craig Stadler track, quite playable with some interesting challenges. A few hidden features that can trash your score; lots of places to AVOID hitting it, and some are not obvious. Very friendly, accommodating staff.

Interesting Layout requiring local knowledge

Really loved the front 9 as it was pretty straight forward. The back seemed to be a totally different course with numerous blind shots and in some cases penalized for a good shot.

Greens were in great condition and very fast. Above the hole at all and you may three put.

Good experience overall.

Nice Course, but Be Prepared!

A nice course with some unique challenges. Played it with my son. We both enjoyed the courses condition, pace of play, practice facilities, and layout. Definitely some blind shots and challenging holes, but the GPS on the cart helped.

My main warning is that you need to come prepared. We came to the area for the national parks, but added in this unexpected round out golf. They are very strict down the polo enforcement. Thus, both my son and I had to buy a shirt. Cheapest in the clubhouse was $79 each. Rental clubs were nice, but did not come with any of the supplies, so I had to buy golf balls as well. Value for the round was good, especially with the junior price, but after all the add-ons, it was quite an expensive day.

Nice course, POOR management!

Good: As many have noted, very nice design and condition.
Drove almost two hours to hear: Sorry, only 9 holes open due to paving contractor showing up unexpectedly.
Just a pile of BS. No first class facility disrespects their paying customers with this nonsense. When you have tee times booked for over $100 a round, you notify all customers on advance and offer a refund as an option.
Bottom line is that contractor should have been told to come at a later date. Nope, five star course with one star management.
Won't be back. Beware!

Beautiful Views and Friendly Staff

1st and foremost the Mike and his staff were amazing. My girls and I played on 2 occasions while visiting. The view was amazing. The course was in great shape. It was tough if you didn't land you tee shots in the right place. It was a ton of fun though. I would definitely play it again next time I'm in the area.
