Took 8 Months to Cancel Membership
When our family joined the club, we were hopeful of the new experience but canceled our membership after 6 months. Membership sign-up was a breeze, but resigning was a whole different story--slow, messy, and straight-up frustrating. We decided to cancel for various reasons: limited food options, subpar drinks from the bar, frequent staff turnover, lackluster social events, poor customer service, and a deteriorating ambiance--all contributing to a less than satisfactory experience. The non-refundable down payments, which differ by membership level, coupled with quarterly spending minimums, felt like an unwarranted burden given the service provided. The request to cancel our membership was continually overlooked, leading to unnecessary delays and frustration. Additionally, we disputed a food service charge to our account months after we stopped attending. It took 8 months to cancel our membership and reach a partial resolution.
Furthermore, it's important to note that the club was recently fined for violations of child labor laws, including overworking minors. This raises serious ethical concerns and should give pause to anyone considering membership.
For those considering joining, here's a breakdown of the initial costs when we signed up:
- Social Membership: $****
- Social Membership + Pool Access: $5k
- Golf Sport: $10/15K (single membership)
- Golf Pro: $20/25k (family membership)
- Quarterly minimum spend of $200 for social members
A private TPC worth playing near Seattle
When I played Snoqualmie Ridge near Seattle in 2009, it quickly shot up the list of my favorite TPC courses. It might be no. 1, simply for the fact that the Stadium course at TPC Sawgrass always beats me up.
Staying on a golf package at the luxurious Salish Lodge & Spa is the only way for the paying public to get access to this course, which hosts the Champions Tour's Boeing Classic. The lodge overlooks the breathtaking Snoqualmie Falls. There's only one truly "memorable" moment - the risk-reward 14th hole - but some nice movement in the land and a strong routing set within a mostly natural setting add to its charms.
