Great Fall Golf
We played on a crisp fall day and had a great time. I hadn't played this course since the early 90s when it opened and was delighted to find that the course was in excellent shape. Of course, now there are homes and other buildings all along the perimeter of the course but this doesn't detract too much from the views or layout. The greens were fast and smooth and didn't suffer from the usual daily-fee course problem of un-repaired ball marks. We played on a Tuesday afternoon so there were few people on the course and we are able go right around at our own pace as a twosome. Would definitely play again.
Nice layout, but course management is lacking
The course layout was nice and provided a good challenge. However, the staff appeared to be understaffed. Not their fault, but they need to hire more people. One person running the front desk was not enough as she was having to jump around often leaving the front desk unmanned.
Additionally, grounds keeping was really bad. Fairways were roughs, and roughs were jungles. Greens were overgrown as well.
Largest square footage course
Interesting course to say the least. I couldn't believe how spread out it was and it had a feel of a south carolina private course feel . Greens and T Boxes definitely need some work. Overall had a great time and played very well spite the wind.
Senior League
The course doesn’t let other knows there’s a senior league that happens on weekday mornings. I was told by the clubhouse staff there’s a “ shotgun start” on weekday mornings. I had 2 groups of older gentleman in front of me who wouldn’t let me play through. This course needs a ranger in the worst way. It’s really the only place to play in the area unless you want to spend $100+. The staff here need to do better with slower playing patrons. A round of golf on a Friday morning shouldn’t take 4 hours for a single…
Bob
Very slow getting starting. They where not organized at all. Greens was in very poor condition, and fairways were loaded with goose droppings. They need to change Thier name from Locust Hill to Goose dropping Hill. I don't think I will ever play there again!!!
Nice Course To Play
As others have noted, this course it not well kept up. Tee boxes mostly just crabgrass, greens have holes dug by the geese on the course, and this time the greens were very hard so if you hit a good solid high iron shot, don't expect it to make a ball mark. It simply hits the green and rolls. Found it better to just land short of the green and let it roll on. I do find it enjoyable to play here as there is a lot of variety and the water holes are quite challenging.
Solid course, not in best condition
About my 10th time playing here, always enjoy it, Tournament just got done so course was wide open so pace was great, and reasonably priced there. Worth it for the price, but aerated fairways and greens with very rough tee boxes. I’m sure the drought made things worse, but just wanted to let people know. Fun course.
Horrible
Absolutely horrible. I would have left a zero star rating if it were possible.
Fairways (if you can call them that) looked like they hadn't been watered in years and were hard as a rock - might as well hit your ball off the cart path. It was difficult to even find grass on the majority of the fairways - most of the time you were just hitting off of hard dirt or very dead grass. Several of the ladies tee boxes were nothing but sand and hay. Even the greens had dead patches and were clumpy on some holes.
The only reason we even finished all 18 holes was because we had paid $60 per person. I've paid a third of the price elsewhere for way better conditions - I would never return to this place. Stay away!
Enough is enough
I’d rather not play golf than come here again. It’s close to my house so I guess that’s the biggest benefit but other than that, it’s just a terrible course.
For starters, nothing is maintained to any sort of consistency. Some holes are playable some holes are not, some holes have crab grass on there boxes some holes have lush grass on the tee box (that isn’t cut by the way).
The greens are hit or miss with almost no sort of rhyme or reason as to how they maintain them. The fairways are mostly 2/5 with the occasional attempt at maintaining a golf course.
The tee boxes are almost all off centered or not maintained in the slightest. Signage for the tee boxes are also very poor as to where you should be hitting from without hiking up to a tee box only to discovered that starting positions are changed for that day.
I’ve been coming here for about 2 years now and at the beginning of the season I saw a glimmer of hope, but that quickly faded and I won’t be coming back.
The practice areas are even terrible. The practice sand is ground up gravel, the “tee boxes” are weird sort of mats and when you can hit off the actual ground it is dirt or grass patches that are in even and you cannot get a decent lie to save your life.
Staff is also pretty clueless. I asked for a large bucket for the practice area. He says we only have one size so I say okay cool I’ll take it. I put my coin in and out comes half a bucket. So apparently, you do have more than one size, but you only have one token. Noted.
Stay Away
We picked this course on the recommendation of of one of the guys in our group who had played it years ago, and on our way away for the weekend.
Sorry to say the course is in terrible shape and not worth the $ spent. Carts are in a state of disrepair, and it looks like all they do is cut the grass on the course - nothing else. Bunkers were horrendous, and the greens which had been aerated, but barely top-dressed were impossible to put on.
Stay away, and use your money elsewhere!
Last Last time
Used some of my golf now points for my wife and I to get in an afternoon round as this place is close to home. Got there, checked in and was given a key to get a cart - there were no carts. They eventually got us one. Teed off on first hole and immediately we were backed up. Able to join up with a single in front of us(as nobody was letting her play through) which made it more tolerable. Got to the 6th hole and there is a foursome that appeared out of nowhere. They told us they were in a league and they had shotgun starts on all holes now. Nobody told us that when we checked in otherwise we would not have played. This course is a mess, not just its condition but the way it is managed as well. No more of my hard earned money is going here.
course is in terrible shape
it’s like they have no maintenance staff or superintendent who knows what they’re doing. tee boxes were horrendous. greens were horrendous. pace of play was awful. they had 2-3 high school teams out there practicing, league night play, kids first tee program along with the regular golf play all at once. poorly ran and managed. do not recommend at all
