Broomieknowe Golf Club, six miles outside Edinburgh, features a well-aged parkland course in top shape. It's an easily walked golf course, the product of legendary course designers Ben Sayers and James Braid, with the first creating the layout and the second extending it.

Broomieknowe Golf Club's course - 6,172 yards, with a standard-scratch score and par of 70 each - offers a great golfing challenge. A round of golf kicks off on Fairway, as the first hole is called, a gentle 316-yard par 4 that requires a straight shot clear of the trees on both sides and then a short iron to hit the green. Battle your way through Mary's Dyke, the Cockpen, Robin's Nest and 13 other holes. You'll reach Knowesend, a 318-yard par 4, where you'll need to tee-off nicely to clear the gap in the trees (they grow, so visit when they're short or wait until they become even more of a challenge). From there, hit a short iron to a green bunkered on the left and right.

After your round at the Broomieknowe Golf Club, hit up the lounge for an informal atmosphere, quality food and its variety of beers.

Great off course training facilities

Myself and friend played B/knowe for a tie we needed to complete for a society we are both members of. Prior to our round, Mark/pro let us see the trackman/training facilities located within clubhouse. I was extremely impressed when I saw the tailor made room and technology! All members around the pro shop all seemed very friendly, and many hello’s were exchanged. The weather was not on our side. But I will be back, and would recomend to tourists and visitors looking for an all round good package/price day out.

Disappointed

Very little grass on the "fairways" in places. Large section of 1 hole marked as gur - from maybe 100yds in, on a blind up hill dogleg approach 🤦🏻‍♂️ staff went round in front of us cutting fresh holes for us...majorly held up as a result. Was approximately a 10 person staff meeting on one of the par 3 greens we were waiting to play - can only assume someone was taking the lunch orders. I was happy to get this course on a hot deal for £14 - after playing I think they should refund us at least £10 each 🤣

Trees trees trees

Very tight course, have to be accurate off the tee or you’re in trouble pretty much anywhere! Greens very hard and quick but not in the best condition. Early season so can’t be too critical. Overall a brilliant test of golf!

Deceptive start

First 3 holes straight up and down , easy and flat , then through a wall and across into a tremendous course, lots of up and ,down, long challenging par 4s. Great fun.
