I Love what their doing at Emerald Mountain Golf Club.
I'm a regular at EMGC and it is looking great. New grounds teams has the greens playing fast. Everything is being upgraded and they're soon to re-open the Top of the Hill Grill. I strongly recommend it if you haven't play there or if you haven't been in awhile. You're going to love it!
Sad to see
This was once a really good track. I don’t think it ever will be again. It’s cheap but not worth playing. The fairways are burnt up and brick hard. You need a hammer to put a tee in the tee box and the greens are extremely bumpy. It appears they are letting all bunkers grow in, but right now they’re just dirt and weeds. Got stuck behind a sixsome and quit at the turn. There is too much good golf in this area to waste time here.
Give it a try...much improved!
I live in the area and have played Emerald Mountain several times. It has changed owners many times over the years but the current owner has done the most to improve it. Please remember the course was closed over a year so to get it where it is today is simply a miracle. It was only 9 holes for about 2 years but now is full 18 holes of really nice golf. I highly recommend playing it again if you haven't played in a while. Please also consider the rates, which I think are very reasonable at $30 plus tax on Fri-Sun and $25 plus tax on week days. Buddy rates and twilight rates also exist. For those that gave it 2 stars, I only ask to try it again. I am not an owner, nor do I work there, just enjoy golf and you will too and Emerald Mountain.
Needs help
The course is tight. Accuracy a must. Greens are slow, bumpy and littered with crab grass. Fairways are pretty fair but hard, your ball will sit deep in the rough. The front 9 is closed so this is not an 18 hole course.
I played Emerald Mountain yesterday and as much as I hate to, I thought the course was heading in the right direction but it doesn't appear to be the case. The tee boxes were in good shape but the fairways were not cut and look more like a cow pasture than a fairway. In addition, the greens "look" good but they are spongy and very slow. It is unfortunate because as I said, I live in the area and would love a nice course to play on a regular basis but this one is not it!
