Lovely course - double booked again

Course was good. Dry with good greens. Double booked for tee time which meant a delay teeing off again. Still recommend.

Absolute joy

Fantastic round at Ranfurly Castle. Played the course almost a decade ago so was great to be back and on this occasion doing the course justice with a decent score.

The course is in great nick for a mid October day. Naturally at this time some work was done on the tee boxs and some greens had obviously recently been tinned, but in no way shape or form did that detract from the course. Its an easy stand course in Renfrewshire.

Some great variety to the holes, testing par 3s, cliff shots, downhill shots, open at times, tight at times, long par 4s, some shorter.

Definitely would consider membership next season

Ranfurly Castle GC

Played in the afternoon on a calm, sunny day. I thought the course played very fair and presented a decent challenge (my handicap is 11).

No two holes are same and challenges the golfer to play a variety of risk/ reward shots.

I particularly liked the cliff holes! Driving up and over a cliff is always fun!

While it was quite hilly, you are rewarded with spectacular views all over the course.

I would definitely return and play again.

Lovely golf course. Nice views from its elevated position. Easy enough walking. Quiet and spacious. Lots of par fours and easy enough to get around for a first timer while still providing a challenge.
Friendly locals.

I got bored

Due to COVID-19 pro shop is closed. Greens are in excellent condition, fairways immaculate. However, the course is long, just long and very wide fairways. Not a thinking course. Just grip it and rip it. We scored well but we got bored because it’s not a tricky course.

A First Class Challenge

Ranfurly Castle is a most challenging golf course, in fact it is probably one of the best courses I have ever played. That is why I have played four times this year so far and hopefully I will play another four times before the season ends. The course is a very fair challenge but you must be confident with the driver at most of the par fours as a bad drive will result in a bogey or worse. You are definitely not going to duff a drive and then hit a three wood followed by a chip and a putt for par. That is not going to happen. For instance the sixth and eigth holes, both par fours are three shotters. However, I would advise that you stand on the tee and just marvel at the design of the holes and enjoy playing them. One of the course's best attributes is its fairness. The par fours are tough however these are balanced out with great par threes although they are not just a short iron lob onto the green. But on these holes, you stand on the tee you just say "wow" and embrace the beauty of the design. Finally, don't beat yourself up if you don't play well as Ranfurly Castle will take many rounds to get to know. Most importantly though, don't forget to look up and around you to take in the stunning scenery. A WONDERFUL PLACE TO PLAY GOLF.

Great day

First time playing here and I have to say it was enjoyed by our 4 ball . Course in good condition and greens were firm . Layout is different to any course I've played with a few blind tee shots which added to the novelty of the course. Challenging place to play for our standard but still enjoyable. Course was quiet which we couldn't understand as it's a great fun here . Definitely playing here again. Views around the course are beautiful and some holes really catch the eye. Don't miss playing here at least once.

Standard of course

This golf course if a superb track, set in beautiful scenery. The course was much wetter than I had expected, however this was no doubt due to the recent amount of rain in the local area & did not adversely affect the experience particularly. The greens were a bit bumpy but generally in pretty good nick for this time of year.

Played Ranfurly may 28 with my wife and we would rate it a 3 out of 10. Greens were very rough with ball bouncing around. Maintenance on course was lacking. To top it off when we arrived at the 18 th green there was a sprinkler and hose on the green sprinkling right over the hole with no one around to move it as golfers came through
This was at around 4 pm in the afternoon. I would recommend golfers stay clear of this course. With proper maintenance this could be a nice course but without I would stay away

Needs some attention

We played the course on a very windy day which made the front 9 very difficult. The greens were in good condition but some of the fairways could be better. There are a number of them with clumps of grass which detract from the appearance of the course; that said it would not take much to fix this which would greatly improve the over all look of the course.

Enjoyable Afternoon

Played on a Sunday afternoon, only a few people on the course and those we met were pleasant and friendly.
Course was well designed and provided interest from start to finish.
I would have no hesitation recommending this course.
