Leven Links Golf Course
About
Golf has been played at Leven Links Golf Course since 1846, making it one of the oldest clubs in the world. It has a unique landscape of parallel dune ridges that provides the ideal setting for links golf. The slopes and undulations of the terrain are used throughout the golf course, including the fairways that were molded from the valleys created by the dunes. The prevailing winds that blow through the course are often another challenging factor that is added to the game. The first four holes, all par 4s, play long but as the holes continue they become more up-and-down. The golf course opens with a tricky hole where the green sits on a ridge plateau and it finishes with what some have boasted is one of the best finishing holes in the country. It is another difficult par 4 with a burn stretching across the front of the green.

Nice course
Played on a Tuesday morning in a two ball and was nearly four hours to play a shortened course!!!
We were informed by the two ball directly in front of us (locals) who walked off at the ninth that it was members causing this slow play.
Positives were that the weather was good and the course was in good condition and the greens were very good.
Slow play put a downer on what was a good visit.
Winter Greens but a beautiful day?
A gutting day as the weather was spectacular for December. A beautiful day, barely a cloud in the sky and very little wind but the most frustrating part was although it wasn’t really cold, only 16 holes were open and all were on winter greens. I get there would’ve been frost in the early morning but by mid morning it must have been gone. Lady in the shop was awesome and the folk in the Leven Society Clubhouse were great, made us feel very welcome. Just such a shame we couldn’t enjoy the course as it’s a great course but staff levels obviously aren’t there to turn things around when the weather changes, which is often in Scotland.
windy
Course was in perfect condition. Never played in wind like it before really hard to control ball
Day oot
Nice course great weather, needs some tlc especially the bunkers just looking a little tired but still good value
Good link course
Enjoyed the course, good test of golf. Greens were fast, found them hard to read..
Disappointment
After reading so much about the course, we were looking forward to the game only to find, that they were playing a seniors competion, which nobody informed us about. We took 5 hours, we had to wait on every stroke.
The Ladies tees were a disgrace, please why not put in your listing, that ladies are only tolerated... no matter that they might actually be good players. How can you tee up on a totally uneven piece of fairway?
There was litter on every hole, eco-friendly plastic bottles floted in the water in front of the last green.
After a disappointing round we wanted to eat... the unfriendly lady replied, that she was not cooking anymore, although the seniors were having food. We were told by the friendly starter, that they did food after the round.
Excellent greens
Great day . Greens are absolutely brilliant but tricky to read.
Great Traditional Links
This was my first visit to Leven links having played most of my golf on the other side of the Forth in East Lothian.
The Professional was extremely accommodating and friendly on arrival. We tee'd off early evening on a day that saw all 4 seasons. The rain did not put a dampner on what is a great links course. The views over the forth are great and the course held up really well in the rain with the greens running true.
If you are a fan of links golf then this is the course for you. Good value, friendly staff and a true test of golf. If I didn't live an hour and a half away then I would consider joining.
A new favourite Links
Loved Leven
Played well and large well kept greens suited me.
You have to keep the ball in position or you're in trouble
Strangely noisy though - planes, drones, caravanners and even a music festival nearby
Interesting old style links
Played late on day so no problems with pace of play etc. Great links with interesting layout, double fairways so two ways to play some holes. Great condition with some cracking holes, 18th especially. Only downside no planner so as a first timer it was a little tricky for distances, hitting to some blindish fairways etc.
Traditional links
Other than St,Andrews and Kingsbarns this is my favourite course to play. I play at a heathland course but I love the challenge of links golf, if you're looking to score you must do it on front nine, classic finishing hole and happy with a bogey every time. I have played this course many times in all kinds of weather but its still great to go back and play.
Leven Links certainly worth the drive from St. Andrews
Anytime you can play a course designed by Old Tom Morris, it has to be a treat, right? Well, that was certainly the case for Leven Links, which use to be part of the course right next to it – Lundin Golf Club. We actually played both of these courses in the same day (about a half hour or so from St. Andrews), and while I was certainly impressed by Lundin, Leven Links certainly held its own. And it's not easy, at least not the back nine. Just when you think you have it going, you're faced with some 450-plus yard par 4s on the back, and many of them played into the wind. The last hole is one of those – a monster, which is not only long at around 470 yards (and that's from the gold tees), but there's a burn that runs right in front of the green. So if you go for it in two, you have to make it all the way to the green. I tried and failed.
Course condition.
Every part of the course was like playing off concrete. The bunkers were good though.
Great finishing hole.
Beautiful course, a few holes where we were confused on where to go but still a delight to play.
good track for money i paid
course in good condition some greens fast other ones a bit slower course very busy as a guest not knowing th e course found some holes a bit dangerous.
Quality Links
Has to be one of the truest links courses in Fife. Met by the club professional with all the information we needed. Course was in superb condition and had just come off mats. first 4 holes follow the water out to Lundin Links then you about turn and play back towards the town. Back to back par 5's at 12 and 13 offer some chance of the wind doesn't blow. What will blow your mind is the finishing hole. In my opinion, the strongest finishing hole in Fife. 440 back to the clubhouse over a snaking burn and often into the breeze! Dumped it in the water trying to make it home in 2! Amazing course.
We ate in the Leven Thistle clubhouse. Very friendly and excellent food.
Smashing links
