Chardonnay Golf Club
About
Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Elevated tee, what a view. If you turn around and use a spotting scope, you can see the top of one tower of the Golden Gate bridge Photo submitted by Titaniumhen on 12/21/2020

Great Layout
The course layout is the classic 3/3/3 on the front and back (3 par 3/3 par 4/3 par 5), my favorite. The layout was beautifully done by the architect where the view from every tee shot is just the hole in front of you, the vineyards and the natural layout of your surroundings. Course conditions were a little beat up, but we played on a Monday in late October only a few days after the fires were contained. No smoke from the fires, but you could see where the fire had burned the hills north of the course. We played the Imperial Tees.
Windy Day
Tough conditions but the course was fun. Got a lot of roll-out in the fairways. Bunkers could use some work.
course maintenance
I understand that the grass clippings are left on the course for mulching purposes, but it leads to ridiculously
slow play with golfers trying to find their ball. The bunkers were like hitting off of hardpan, at least the three I was in.
Give this course some TLC and it would easily be 5 Stars.
A few Complaints
we've never been happy about "no carts allowed" in parking lot. The fellow at bag drop needs some lessons. Bags were cock-eyed and not secured. No "official" scorecards; only generic yellow. Pro shop said pin position was 3. What good is that. with no reference. Couldn't find anyone to make a cocktail at the turn. Course was in the best shape ever though!
Needs work
Slow pace of play without a marshal. The rough was long and covered in grass clippings so that I lost two balls just feet off the fairway. Greens were great as usual. Not up to Chardonay standards
Tough weather - great course
We played a sunday twilight teetime for 49$ walking and with that being said, the value for money here is insane.
The layout is very diverse and varied. With a 6/6/6 layout in Par 3/4/5 you really get to use a lot of different clubs. The views in the hilly vineyards are astonishing and even though our round was unfortunately also very varied with regards to the weather, as we had downpours and heavy winds but also perfect sunshine during our round, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The only downsides were, that the bunkers were in pretty bad shape and the subpar quality of the rangeballs.
Overall a diverse layout with amazing views.
Three hours to play nine holes
Had a teatime at 12:18, the foursome in front of us was so slow that it was three hours after nine holes There is no course marshals on the course, so due to the foursome in front of us only got to play nine will not be back until they get marshals
Love the layout
Still a but soggy. Fairways not mowed so don’t expect to get any spin with your irons. Rough super deep for the same reason. Bunkers are always trashy. Not sure why. Love the layout & the challenge
Great but cart path only
Cart Path Only, and I understand why, makes it less enjoyable. We will definitively go back again when the course is dry and no cart restrictions. It was a great time !
Chardonnay Golf Course
Great day on the course for our foursome. Pace was great, conditions were great, and the staff is always friendly. Looking forward to our next round soon!
Chardonnay Jan 2024
Pretty wet areas, but understandable since it rained the morning of the day before. Greens in very good shape.
Way too wet
Played 3-4 days after heavy rains but I t was clear they were still watering the course like normal. Entire course was cart path only, so I walked. Push cart sunk in all across the course. Dozens of plugged lies and water in bunkers. Greens were entirely inconsistent. Nobody made a putt outside of 8’
