Got there early to warm up and hit some balls, no luck though. They didn't have any !!!!!! I found out that they stuffed the course on 8 minute t times and were running out of carts. Over 5 , yes 5 hours to complete.

I feel that the method of picking up clubs, after playing and eating, could be improved. THE PHONE TO GET CLUBS WAS NOT BEING ANSWERED. It is one thing to have an answer and be told it will be 5 or 10 minutes but when nobody answers a person has no idea how long it will be until someone knows you are there. If there is no way to set up a system it may make more sense to tell one of the golfers just to wander down when they are ready and they can walk or ride up with the clubs and assistant. Otherwise very good experience.

I played the Palms course at the JW Marriott. I couldn't have been happier with my round except maybe some of my play. The staff is great with grabbing your bag at bag drop and setting you up on your cart. While you wait for your round to start the course offers a great driving range centrally located by the starter. So you will never be late or not know who your playing with. The course layout is fantastic and challenging. If I were to nitpick small details regarding the course. I would say the greens were fast but had some rough parts to them. However this could be because of the time of year I played. In any case they still were beyond acceptable in my book. The pace of play was a little slower at times. However, I was on vacation and I enjoyed not being rushed. I would highly recommend this course to anyone staying at the JW Marriott or any of the accompanying Marriott Villas.

We told them it was our 1st time at the course. People were efficient with no direction so we were unsure where to go. When you arrive there is a phone to call for the pro shop to get your clubs. They came and with less than a word were off with our clubs. After asking others for directions we found our way to the pro shop, paid and then had to ask again where to go. Once we found our clubs we again had to ask to get to the starter window. This continues until we finally found the 1st tee. Next time it will be easy. First time was stressful. Course was beautiful.

Let me begin by saying I've played this and the sister Valley course for many years (spring summer fall) when visiting the area. For the second time in three years the Palm Course greens are in terrible condition. At this time of the year in the Palm Springs area, there is no excuse for bad greens. Asked two different starters about the condition of the greens...one said they are fighting a fungus, the other said it is because of the grass seed blend that was used on the greens the last time they were renovated. Either way all the greens were sprayed green to try to cover up the fact that 40-50% of the green surface was nothing more than bare ground/dead turf with only patches of real growing grass. I must say they rolled pretty true, I guess because they must have to roll the heck out of them. They were also very firm; almost impossible to make a dimple on an approach shot.

Other than the greens, the course was in great condition (as it should be right now).

Layoutt is terrific. Bunkers were inconsistent as far as condition was cocerned. Some were prepared, several were not. I saw no marshalls, to encourage pace of play. Our round was close to 5 hours. FVW

This course is usually a go to place to play when we are in the area, but unfortunately, the pace of play was too slow this time. The practice facility is great and the fairways were in great condition. However, the greens were slightly burned. There should have been a player assistance person to keep the play moving along.

not for a beginner player...but very beautiful.

Lots of undulation, many many blind spots...

high greens with lots of slope and tricky breaks.

Husband enjoyed more than I did but of course he hits it further and did not have to deal with some of the issues I did.

Fair bunker and water placement. Only played for first time-would probably enjoy more the next time.

In 3 winters playing golf in this area, I've only been prevented from teeing off within 5 minutes of my tee time twice: at the Palms course and the Valley courses at desert springs. Yesterday at the Palms we waited 35 minutes after our 11:42 tee time. Then it took 2:45 to play the front nine. Never saw a ranger moving groups along. Back nine went faster because apparently some groups were moved over to the Valley course to finish. We reached the 17 th hole 4:30 into our round and found 2 groups on the par three tee. So we quit after 16 holes and 5:05 hours after our tee time. Nicely designed and maintained course offset by management cramming too many tee time per hour and lack of effective rangers monitoring pace of play. Resort golf at its worst and best. I'll come back at off peak times but my wife won't.

We arrived 30 minutes early for our 1107 tee time. There were no balls on the driving range and when we asked the starter he informed us that there were balls because he ordered them replaced 30 minutes ago. No balls were on the range, but when we were calle to the tee at 1125 balls arrived for the next golfers. We teed off 30 minutes late because the group in front of us were added by the starter. Play was extremely slow and after 1 1/2 hours we finished hole 4, waiting 8-10 minutes between shots. We called the starter from our cell phones as did our playing partners we were assigned. After 9 holes nd 3 1/2 hours we went to the starter and were informed to go to the golf shop and get a refund which we did. Weather was great, course conditions were fine but never have we experienced this slow of play. This was our 3rd round of golf in 10 days at Desert Springs and our worst experience. Rangers were not visable or able to speed up play. I hope next year will be better. We stayed for 2 weeks in Feb and have for the last 10 years.
