Great Course

We visited Machynys from Norfolk. Booking was very easy, but were a bit surprised we had to pay on booking. The staff in the pro shop were extremely helpful. Especially Dylan. The course was wet as they had had a lot of rain, and on the day we were hailed upon. This did not detract from the course. The only thing I would say is that people should repair their divots, it is a pet hate of mine that the clod of earth may only be two inches from the divot and people are too lazy to repair. Green keepers must be extremely busy repairing these. Why not make people carry sand bags this may encourage a repair. The bottled water and crisp price is a bit over the top. Lovely location to have a drink though. We will visit again at the first opportunity.

Great day out

So to be fair I gave a 3 for the course conditions but it wasn’t the courses fault it was a very bad and we were pre warmed by the pro that day it would be wet however the greens and tees where brilliant considering the deluge they had taken the previous days!!!
Let’s get it right this corse is up there with the best I have played it’s a tough track with water bunkers and some tricky tee shots and I can’t wait to come back in the summer and play it dry still shot 82 got soaked blown away and still walked off happy

Great course but?

Second time we played the course, and it is a great course to play but. The guys who work in the shop asked us twice while we were trying to play if we had booked and payed to play. Very off putting to play there again.

Underwhelming

Perhaps I was expecting too much but it all felt a bit samey compared to other courses in the area. The course itself was in good condition, and the greens excellent but we all felt slightly disappointed by the experience, with no particularly memorable or standout holes. There are some nice views from parts of the back nine though.
The off-course facilities were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful - EXCEPT for the kitchen closing at 6.00pm, despite there still being at least 3 bar staff there until 10.00! Doesn't seem unreasonable for a facility of that size and prestige to be able to offer at least a bowl of chips or a sandwich after an afternoon round. Other, much smaller clubs do.

Winter Wet Golf. Mid December

Lovely looking course with some great holes. Well the first nine anyway because that's a far as we were prepared to play. No trollies allowed on the course and carrying a bag that was not designed to be carried was a bad start. Nothing in advance to let us know. The streams were full and the bridge over the first stream was 4" deep in water. One wet foot to start. Thats where we should have stopped. Surface water on the fairways and a decent walk to a hill to find a playable lie.
Luck I was striking the ball as well as I did otherwise we wouldn't have made the 9 holes.
I would play this course again but at a different time of year.
Lovely bar, restaurant, great views with a good driving range to warm up.
Pity the BBC weather app is so poor. 10% chance of rain it said. More like 10% chance of not raining. Be warned.

One of the best courses in the area

No issues at all with the golf course, well signed, greens fairways tees all in great condition. I played Mother course the same day and that one was far wetter than this.

Played nearly 50 courses around South Wales and the west and this is right up there.

Excellent course best greens I’ve played this year

The course was fantastic, greens perfect fairways in great condition could not ask for more oh and the price we paid through this website was a bargain.

The wind was up but the course was still playable for any handicap, We were met by the course marshal in the first who offered advice and gave us a pitch mark repair tool, the staff were all friendly clubhouse is very popular but is overpriced. But I would highly recommend this golf course to anyone.

A superb course which I would definitely recommend to all levels of golfers. The course was in very good condition. All the tees and greens were in a fine condition and a couple of the holes definitely should be played off the black tees 13 and 18

I have played this course a few times in the winter and in the summer greens and tees are always excellent even in December
In the summer you will struggle to find a better course in South Wales

The holes are great to look at and pose a good challenge for any handicap.

Definitely recommend this course to anyone!

A must play!

My wife and I holiday down here regularly, and we always pay a visit to this course. A well laid out, well kept course with plenty of challenges. Rewards accuracy, particularly off the tee. Watch out for the scary water on the 18th!

There is a great restuarant and bar on site, a very spa, and good practice facilities. A good day's golf.
