Absolute steal
Very friendly staff, and helpful- nets could do with a tidy up, and considering the rain- the course was great! Up there with the best in Wales.
Bring fuel for your round; it’s a lot of walking!
Fantastic views, fun course
On a sunny day it was one of the most scenic courses I have played in the UK. The greens were great and course a good layout. Fairly straightforward golf as long as you are hitting straight.
Fantastic days golf
Had a great day. The views and staff are fantastic.
The course is tough when it’s windy
Challenging as the ball will do exactly what the land let’s it and could be better served if the scorecard or tee had the hole layouts to help the newbie navigate the hilly terrain.
Stunning course
Played this fantastic course yesterday. We were very lucky with the weather as the sun shone with only a slight cooling breeze making conditions almost perfect. The course was well set up and greens were in great condition. Fairways bone dry which made for some interesting ball searches. Local knowledge definitely a help in playing here! Due to its location, Welshpool is quite a physical challenge, but this is more than made up for by the stunning views of the surrounding countryside available on virtually every hole. Another major plus was the welcome afforded by the club members and the staff in particular who were extremely helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us. Thank you for making this a memorable golfing day for us and I will certainly be recommending the course to friends and family and will be back as soon as possible.
My favourite course
I have played some 90 plus courses across the UK and this has to be my favourite. Staff and club are the most welcoming we have come across. Course is in a stunning location atop the hills just outside Welshpool. Views are amazing. Very challenging holes as wind is always a factor in influencing your shots. Due to the wind one of our four ball said "this is crazy golf, but it's fantastic" I think it's how golf was meant to be by playing against the elements as well as the course. Pretty much every hole can be daunting in its own way. Course layout has been changed - the old 18th is now the 12th but still has to be my number one Wow hole of any course anywhere, what a drive awaits you over the valley! Closely followed by the totally testing 16th and the tee shot to the 17th (Dare you try to drive this par 4. A buggy is recommended. Fantastic place, golfing heaven.
Hilly golf
Great little course - hilliest course I’ve ever played. Was in good nick. Not the longest of golf courses but even the short par 4s require some thinking. Expect to play shots uphill, downhill, left to right and vice versa. Local sheep provide good on course entertainment too. Staff very friendly and currently operating limited menu under Covid conditions but nevertheless a good setup throughout
Brilliant fun.
Having never played "mountain golf" before I didn't now what to expect. We were warned when we arrived the greens had just been rolled and were playing very fast, and they were not wrong! They took some getting used to and were tough but fair. Being a beginner i struggled to keep the ball on the greens, I just laughed it off and that made the experience so much more enjoyable.
There's a good variety of holes and no two felt similar.
I would say if you struggle with mobility hire a buggy because it really is "mountain" golf.
Amazing experience
This is a course that you have to experience. Not the easiest, small greens, sloping fairways and huge changes in elevation. However you are rewarded with 18 great holes and staff/members who were amongst the friendliest I have met. On a calm day the course is a challenge with a wind it would be a brute. The course is very hilly so be prepared to get your heart rate up or hire a buggy. We finished at 7.30 in the evening expecting the place to be deserted because of Covid. A lovely surprise that we could order a sandwich, soft drink and sit in the sunshine with the members, all socially distanced. We will be back there very soon.
Stunning scenery and greens.
Amazing course. Almost 360 panoramic views. Incredible beauty spot. The course was varied and in excellent condition. Don't be fooled by length, it has its own challenges. Seriously impressed.
Windy but amazing
What a combination. Some of the most amazing views I have ever seen on a golf course...even though at times I could barely keep my self standing in the wind!
But, fair play. I gave up after 11 holes. One of their team found me in the caramel and said that due to the wind it was not a true reflection of the course. Said I could come back and play for free next time. What a classy gesture. I will be back (might check wind speed next time)
Well played Rory
Top class hill golf
Changed the layout since I last played hence 4 stars I felt it was better before with spectacular 18th to finish but still a great course. If you like hill golf you will categorically love Welshpool.
Great Course a must play if you like hill golf.
They’ve changed the layout since I last played so you now start on the old 7th, prefer it as it was with monumental finishing hole but still a great course. Fantastic views and course in great condition just need the weather to play ball up there!
