Great Day
Very cool course ... scenic holes, great greens, awesome layout.
From Mass and now have family in the area. This could be my go too NY course!!!
A friendly staff that "tries" , which sadly I find to be less the norm these days, with the demand for tee times exploding. Sir, please and thank you etc .... "how was your round Sir" they knew my name coming up the walkway prior to my tee time and provided some helpful instructions right off the bat. I don't expect that these days, nor demand it, but it's a nice touch; adding to the overall experience.
-1 star for off course amenities ... only due to covid, so not fair.
-1 star for course conditions, only because it wasn't absolutely perfect. Had some wet areas on a few fairways due to rain. It was in VERY good condition and will be better when dryer. 5 Star to me would be Trump Ferry Point, which is more expensive than Centennial.
Great Course!
It was very fun to play at this course. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great condition. Especially, fairways feel like stepping on a sponge! It was rare to see a green without lies, and the speed were pretty fast.
Tell us
Greens were aerated making it impossible to putt. Golfers should be told before agreeing to $129 pp. Tee boxes were often not level. Should not start a hole with a “siidehill lie.” price should be lowered significantly under these conditions
Buyer Beware - DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE FOR CGC
I've played a lot of courses in the tri-state area. I live in Northern Westchester and travel up to 2-3 hours sometimes to play. So I've seen my fair share of courses. Never in my life, have I played worse greens. Speeds were a little slow, and inconsistent. I'll let that slide because of the rain we got yesterday. But that wasn't even the problem. What really got to me was how beat up they were. Every course in the area gets a lot of play. So the amount of play CGC gets, is no excuse for how bad the greens were. If I had played here on a weekend, and payed $135, I'd be absolutely furious and would feel duped. This isn't even a $90 dollar weekend course in the condition it's in.
For $135, I want greens that aren't absolutely beat up and patchy. Literally every putt had to go past at least 15 pitch marks. I just watched my ball hop around and zig zag each time it hit a pitch mark. What a joke. The greens are just littered with pitch marks. For that price, some GPS would be nice too. Also, for that price, the tee boxes shouldn't be chewed up like a 2nd rate muni. I'm beyond happy that I only payed $60 on GolfNow. My playing partners payed $99. I'd be pretty angry and duped at that price point too.
Pros:
• Fun Layout
• Visually pretty holes
• challenging - you have to hit good shots here.
Cons
• Worst greens I've ever putted on. This is not an exaggeration. They were insanely bad
• Tee Boxes - The par 3 tee boxes were some of the worst I've ever hit off of. Good luck finding an area that doesn't have 100 divots. Also, it would be nice if they were level. More often than not, I felt like the ball was above my feet or that I had an uneven lie on the tee. A fair amount of the par 4/5 tee boxes were also pretty beat up. Long grass like it hadn't been mowed in 3-4 days. Crab grass sprouting up on most of them.
• Bunkers - I know we just had a major storm yesterday, but it would be nice if the grounds crew at least raked the bunkers to start the day. They were all just solid, wet, dirt. Luckily I only had to hit out of 2.
• Price - Sure, I only payed $60 on GolfNow, but if I was there on a weekend and they charged me $135 to play this place, I'd have a word or two for them after my round. DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $60 FOR THIS PLACE.
• Some holes just don't reward good shots.
It’s alright
Not bad layout. Tee boxes need work. Greens need a bit of work. No one fixes ball marks. Fairways are good. Nice views Pace of play was excellent I guess it’s the only decent course besides pound ridge but not worth a 100 bucks
Great
Course is in great condition, very challenging. Staff is very friendly
Ready? Set? Hit.
The course is fairly hillly but plays fair. The design concept is the same. Play over and around Glg hills and valleys.
I assure you you’ll enjoy your round.
