Aguila Golf Course
About
The Aquila Golf Course facility offers two golf courses; one is a championship length course while the other is a par-3, nine-hole course. The championship course provides an excellent game of golf for an affordable price. There are scenic views of mountains and downtown Phoenix as well as a challenging layout featuring several water hazards and bunkers. Although the terrain is rather hilly, it is still relatively walkable. The course has an excellent range of holes that each have a unique character, the par 5's are especially notable. Native grasses and wildflowers are also present on Aquila's Championship course, further adding to its natural beauty.

Pavememt...slow slow pavement
Where do I start this one? Pro shop was a giant cluster and staff behind counter reflected that. Pro shop is tiny and there were easily 15-18 people milling around or waiting to check in. My friend and I booked a HOTDEAL and other 2 players that booked (no clue who they were) never showed. Yippie, we get to play as twosome amongst foursomes. Oh and someone in pro shop screwed up so they shoved a threesome between us and 4some in front of us. Blood boil at about a 6 brlefore even teeing off. Practice "green" was brown and felt like a sidewalk beneath your feet. I asked the starter if all greens on course were in same condition he said proudly, "yep, we have very fast greens here!" I said it's a burned out pc of dirt w no grass, how do you call it a green? He shrugged his shoulders. The course is entirely hard packed granite, they must be saving a fortune on water. Layout is not forgiving to start but fairways are so bone dry that any sideways moment of a shot results in a lost ball. "Greens" didn't hold any shot (we play proV's and r both low handicaps) and after 2 hours and 10 mins we were sitting on hole 7 waiting for group ahead of us who were waiting on group ahead of them. No ranger to be found. We drove in and left after 6 holes. What a massive waste of a day. Didn't have time to play somewhere else.
The only positive is that I can , w enthusiasm cross this goat ranch off my list of courses to replay.
Aguila must mean NO WATER ON GRASS in another language. (and before anyone that I just butt hurt cries, I'm well aware it means EAGLE. )
Muni course
A decent municipal course surrounded by a park, but not necessarily the greatest neighborhood. The Fairways and greens were in very good shape.
Best Value in Phoenix!
The City has done a great job taking care of the municipal courses like Aguila. It’s a fun but challenging layout and the course is in great shape. We set up a group event here and the staff were excellent in taking care of us and created an awesome experience. Will definitely be back!
Greens like butter
Best greens I’ve played on in quite some time .. I’ve never 1 putted more ! Everything awesome except no coolers on the carts ..
Slow play - lack of player assistant enforcing times
I played with 5 year regulars, who said never played this slow. It happens. But was inexcusable was the fact we called the pro shop to let them know of slow play, they were slow to respond. So ended up only getting 22 holes of golf in during regular time. Frustrated with poor player assistant.
