Surprises upon arrival
We were told upon arriving, carts had to stay on path. Had I known in advance the carts were to be driven on path ONLY ( not 90*), I would not have played at this course.
It definitely made for a longer and less enjoyable round of golf.
For AZ, lots of water
We played in less than 4 hours. Grass was turning from rye to Bermuda but greens and tee boxes were in good condition. Fun slopes to the greens and forgiving fairways! What is interesting is the course only has carts for half the golfers as so many locals play repeatedly with their own carts from their homes. The locals are friendly and welcoming.
Good price on golf now but conditions were very dry and bunkers were like concrete.
Average course , nothing special. Anyone travelling to play in Phoenix there's much better like southern dunes, ocotillo and the duke.
Nice greens staff unfriendly
Course is wide open and fairly easy. Has nice greens very smooth. Played Palms and Somoran. Starter was not busy as most play is from private carts but acted as if he did not want us playing. Did not tell us which 9s we were playing had to go back to proshop to find out . Sunday round hot temp and never saw the beverage cart one time. Course was nice enough but really poor on the CE side.
Oakwood
Review from playing in March which is in season:
First time getting to this track as we usually are able to get on Ironwood but this track is longer and plays very fair but can be challenging. Greens were rolling great, fairways excellent, staff helpful and kind. excellent practice areas, at $35-45 in season you cant be it, we'll be back
Don't want to say golf here
Love this course!!!!! Don't want anyone else to know about it! Was a first time and will not be last!
great time
Four out of five stars. In every way. I can't say that about most courses. Unless you want to pay twice as much. I had friends from out of town playing with me. They were also felt the same. We played palms and lakes
Great course for high handicaps
Oakwood remains very popular, especially weekend. 3 different 9 hole courses offer variety, greens and fairways in excellent condition.
Would give Condition of Course a much higher rating but the sand traps continue to be concrete bunkers, year after year. No excuse for this when other courses within a few miles proximity. Had a 150 yard iron sky high, land on the trap, and bounce 20 feet in the air to the apron.
Other than bunkers and no beverage cart, good course for the $$
Nice course
Glad we played it. There are some interesting direction changes on the fairways that left me a little blind for my second shot. Those added to the challenge. Greens had some undulations, but not bad for what I'm used to. Just enough to make the greens interesting.
Favorite on eastside
This course (3- 9s)is always in great shape.Rounds are usually less than 4 hrs.Played 1/11 in 3hrs.40 min.
Nice course - Terrible staff
The course was in good condition, fairly easy to play and a good value for your money, but the guys working the pro shop were ridiculously rude and unhelpful. We had never played the course before and we received no instruction on where carts were, if we got warmup balls and every time we asked questions we received short annoyed answers. Wouldn't go back purely based on the rudeness of staff.
Oakwood
Oakwood remains one of the best courses for overall conditions and value in the valley.Only complaint is the sand traps need more sand instead of compact dirt.
Horrible
Just a horrible course. So many old people they should've called it retirement facility not country club. The clubs my father rented looked like Jesus himself used them.
An Enjoyable Afternoon of Golf
The Lakes Course is somewhat challenging as it has a lot of water ponds on it but the back nine on the Palms Course was more open. The staff were very courteous and the weather was great.
Oakwood Golf Course
Enjoyed our game of golf. Course was in good shape particularly the greens.
Fun on a hot day
august hot, but still a lot of fun. Fairways are wide open but in good shape. Course has good greens, well maintained traps and water holes.
course worth playing
My friend and I had a great time playing the Sonoran / Lakes course. The course was in great shape, with a good variety of challenges.
Oakwood is not in very good shape
Oakwood is currently undertaking a bunch of upgrades & has 9 of the 27 holes closed. The other 18 is in really poor shape. If you pay 15.00 it's a pretty good deal. Anything higher & it's not a very good value for the money.
The course played fair
The round was good. It is great for an amateur. There are some tough holes, but the course played very fair.
Good course for the money
Course was in decent shape, staff was friendly. Played by myself and finished 18 in less than 2 hrs.
