Phoenix Golf Links
The course is in bad shape as there was some kind of problem with their sprinkler system. The fairways were burnt out and the greens weren't much better. The course should not have been listed on GolfNow.
This course is in terrible condition
This course is in the worse shape I have ever seen. Dead brown patches throughout fairways/greens and bunkers are not playable. It has been so neglected and unmaintained that hole 14 is not even playable. I don't recommend wasting your money on this course anytime soon until they get management that cares about the course.
Course is currently in bad shape.
The course is in pretty bad shape from fairways to greens. The staff is extremely friendly and did tell me that the course was in bad shape but, I. chose to play anyway just to get some swings in. In the past the course has been fine and I usually enjoy playing here. With its current condition I would not recommend the course. If the course gets back to its previous condition then I would definitely recommend playing here.
really disappointed
A few yrs. ago I felt this was a diamond in the ruff. Wow has it gone down hill. The bunkers are a disaster and the fairways are about 60% bare. What happened?
Let Down
I have heard good things about this course and was let down early in the round. The course set up is great (great views of Columbus skyline) , it is fun and challenging enough for the average golfer. Staff was friendly and facilities were fine. The course itself was where the issue was. They mentioned that the course was under construction but they failed to mention why and the severity of the problem. Supposedly the sprinkler system failed and the course is now scorched. Every hole had issues: all greens were scattered with burnt sections and recovering from aeration, fairways were burnt and all tee boxes were angled/humped/slumped. Hole 14 is closed due to this issue and honestly looked just like the majority of holes. I understand they had a sprinkler issue during the worst time of the year and could look past this if it weren’t for the price. In our opinion this course is, at most, a $20 weekend ride rate.
I will play this course again (not this year) and I am sure it will be better. At this point, it is not worth a Saturday trip and the $30 green fee.
Dirt hill
The weather was great, but OMG.!! The course was dryer than playing in West Texas. There are sooo many dry fairways it looked like Foxfire did last year. They lowered the green fee to attract people to play. But beware, if you want any grass to play on you'll have better luck finding it at a water treatment facility. Minerva golf course gets my praise over Phoenix. Big disappointment....
Course in terrible condition
My understanding is Phoenix will undergo renovations sometime soon. Until then I would strongly urge you not to play here unless the price is over 50% off. The fairways were all burned up and many of the greens had dead grass. They obviously have stopped watering the course in anticipation of needed repairs. Until then I will stay away.
Poor conditions
The condition of this course were very poor. Can't recommend it at any price.
Sad shape
I come to this course usually 3 or 4 times a yr. one of my favs. Played the back 1st and was very disappointed in the course condition. Traps not racked fairways dried and cracked and greens in sad shape. Was told" due to maint issues". Really? This is rotine maint and neglect. Very sad.
the phoenix
A course built on a dump. But I enjoyed it. Could it be better sure. But it has character and only one hole #18 that doesn't fit it.
Tees ok
Fairways ok
Greens nice
Its just different. I could see where some would hate it. But I like it.
Course in rough shape
The course was definitely in need of repairs. They counter this by offering a discount for playing though which somewhat makes up for it. Staff was all friendly. Good budget course.
PHONENIX GOLF LINKS
THE COURSE IS IN TERRIBLE SHAPE,FAIRWAYS HAVE BROWN SPOTS EVERY WHERE,THE SAND TRAPS ARE REALLY BAD,WATER STANDING IN THEM,NO SAND IN MOST,NO ONE TAKING CARE OF THEM.THE GREENS ARE STARTING TO GO BAD IN PLACES.THE ROUGH NEEDS MOWED. JUST NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE WORKING THERE.THE COURSE IS REALLY GOING DOWN HILL,I BET IT WIIL CLOSE IF NOTHING IS DONE.
Difficult course in bad shape
This was a very challenging but fun round of golf, but the course was in terrible shape. HUGE dead spots everywhere. Also you will lose a lot of golf balls when compared to the average course due to the tall grass/weeds. The driving range is far from the club house and you have to walk/carry your clubs 0.5 miles uphill.
This course is almost unplayable
Use to be a decent course, but is no longer worth playing. Half the fairways are now dirt. Most of the greens have large amounts of areas with no grass on them. The course was in the worse condition of any course I have played on in the last 15 years.
Was a Central Ohio Favorite...
We used to love the play this track. Over the last few years the upkeep has dropped tremendously. No sand in any of bunkers... Greens were burnt up... They have dropped the price to play, but I would pay more if it was better maintained. I will say though, holes 18 and 19 is what will keep you coming back... I wont stop going here, but I won't brag about it either...
Course conditions terrible
The condition of the course was terrible. Most fairways burnt out or dead grass. Many greens with dead grass, putting on dirt. Looked like greens had not been cut is several days. Overall the course was not worth the price. I will never play this course again
huh?
Played the phx track many times.. not sure wats goin on w the course,, its in very bad shape.. although I luv the course I wont be back netime soon.. regular maintenance isnt tops on their todos.. bunkers havnt been touched all year.. excessive browning on the entire course.. tshirts for sale in the proshop?? New holes havnt been cut n weeks.. slow play isnt necessarily their fault,, but def sloow..
Like I said, have played here alot,, quality of the course is just not there..
Course recently sold to new owner
You know you've made a mistake when the starter warns you about the condition of the course after you pay but before you tee off. Apparently the new owner is used to much smaller less popular courses, as he cut the staff in half. The course is crying out for attention, fairways and greens were literally dead brown. Tee boxes were no longer grass, every shot your teeing up out of divots that seemed months old. The place has always been smelly because it was built on an old landfill, but now the conditions match the smell. As far as I'm concerned unless they are handing out free tee times, Phoenix is a dead course. Hopefully it sells again soon, once this guy realizes he has run everybody off, and his dead cow pasture is no longer drawing golfers. I paid $30 for 18 w/cart, and after my round I would not pay $30 for 50% ownership of the course.
don't waste your time
Th greens are dead! The bunkers have no sand and have grass two feet high growing out of them.
The would be better off starting them over!
