Keeps Getting Better
I have played here for years and I'm very happy with the improvements and return to glory of Stoney Brook West. It is a great layout and they have worked hard at keeping the course up. The greens are fantastic and most other areas are in good shape. There used to be a LOT of sand here, however they have removed or reduced the size of many of the traps. I feel they may have removed too much but there is still enough to make you think. I also love that the tee times are spaced every 10 minutes, it really helps the pace of play. Can't beat the price either. All in all, play it, you'll love it.
Work in progress
Course getting better by the day, finally washrooms supplies are adequate.
Tee boxes are in good condition, greens are perfect! Fairways still have lots of work to bring course back to where it was before it closed!
Eh
I expected more from a course that’s been shut down for a few years. There was a lot of ground under repair and the greens were super slow. $59 on a Wednesday morning is okay. Probably should’ve been around $40-$45. If you’re just looking to get out, relax, and have some fun this is a good place to do it. Just don’t expect nice conditions. You get what you pay for… kinda…
Course is improving
The course is definitely playable; the greens are in great shape and run fast. The tee boxes are good and the fairway is playable even though there are some bumpy spots, bare spots and crab grass. It’s a good value for the money and the course has a nice layout.
Great layout
The course is improving since it reopened. Greens were a little hard & fast, but rolled pretty true.
Needs Work but still nice course
My understanding that course just reopened in the Fall of 2023 after several years of being closed. Greens are in great condition and were rolling pretty quick. Fairways do need some attention as there were some bare areas or very thin grass.
Tee boxes were not too bad, pretty level and no issue finding a spot to tee the ball up between the tee markers.
Will play again before heading home to Ontario.
Not great
I’ve played most of the public courses in central Florida and this one was toward the bottom of the list. Greens were absolutely abysmal. Fairways were okay enough and a couple holes were pretty unique in layout but overall just in terrible shape.
Pace of play
Course was in good shape but unfortunately there was a junior tournament ahead of us. It delayed our start time by at least 30 minutes. We were not able to finish playing because our round was approaching five hours and we only got in fourteen holes.
Great course on a bad day
I’ve been wanting to play this course now for a very long time. Unfortunately I may have picked a bad day. Pace of play was horrendous. There was a tournament in the morning and must have just been overbooked afterward, so it’s all very understandable why. But I started almost an hour late and it was so backed up it took almost 3 hours just to play the front 9 and I ended up not bothering finishing the back. But the course was in awesome shape and was really nice looking. I’d really like to come back on a better day where I can actually play through in a reasonable time.
Glad back open
I don't know why people say bad things about course yes the fair ways and areas around greens need work but most courses at $40 in the winter are like that the greens were in great shape and not slow at all wonderful layout guess it depends on how you play golf me if there is no grass where my ball loes I move it on grass
Good to have it back
I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course.
The greens and fairways were in very good shape and you get a ton of roll for longer drives and faster puts.
The areas around the green and the rough could use some more attention but overall it was a fun round.
Give it a Year
Glad that someone has a plan to reopen the course. The layout has always been a decent track. Greens were in great shape with no issues there. However anything around the greens needs a ton of work. Muddy lies, no grass around them and attempts at repairs uneven until it has time to grow and settle. 12-18 months this will be a great track to play. Pace of play was pretty bad we waited on every shot. Starter had sent off a bunch of singles and doubles who’s tee times were supposed the be the same group. At one point on the second Par 5 there were 5 groups on the whole. Green, fairway, 3 groups on the tee. If you want a round just to get out and can pay sub 40$ good track to go. Otherwise pay the extra $25 to one of the clubs off of 27 to enjoy a full round
Great Layout Challenging and Fun
The golfers who are complaining about conditions at this golf course clearly don’t know much about Florida golf in the winter, or about a course undergoing renovation. This is my first time playing Stoneybrook West, and I thought it was awesome. I love the layout, and I thought it was challenging and fun. I got paired up with a couple of great guys, the pace of play was just fine. The tee boxes and greens and bunkers are in awesome shape. I only noticed one or two problematic fairways, but only in Certain spots. The rough is rough. I will give you that. It’s not high. It’s just rough because there are some weeds and bare spots and I’m sure they’re not going to spray them until to seed. I would play here again. The staff were very nice.I
hot deals, yes
last played when there was nothing else around, as I can recall...so, a bit different from that perspective. as a "hot deal" and w/ a discount code at $41 I thought O K... greens were consistent and rolled nice ...some fairways a little beat up, but overall, for the price...good deal
Don’t waste you money to play in a goat field. They overbook the course. We were 5 groups on the same hole waiting to play
Pace of play was terrible .
Sometimes we were 5 groups on the same hole waiting to play.
Stoneybrook West Redux
I played this course in January, and now just finished in March. Much improvement since then! Grass on fairways, and very fast, smooth greens. Bunkers were compacted and need sand or drainage work, but hey, best strategy is not to hit into them! Glad to see this course back in business, as not too many choices available closeby for this good a price. Course was deserted on a Tuesday; and we got around in 3.5 hours. Like to see more golfers out there to support this course on it's comeback!
