Rancho del Pueblo, el Casa del Ganso
While geese and neighborhood cats are the only animals on this ranch, Rancho del Pueblo (or “Ranch of the Town”) does live up to its name as a local town golf course where kids, seniors, and everyone in-between can come to enjoy a leisurely round of golf. Mostly geared towards beginners, don’t expect the pace of play to be particularly speedy, or tee times to be strictly enforced. Also, know that Rancho del Pueblo is a First Tee course (a great youth program using golf to teach life skills and build character), so some holes may get reserved. The day that we went, for example, holes 1, 2, and 9 were reserved for First Tee, so they had us play 3-8 twice for a total of 12 holes (which didn’t bother us, but wasn’t indicated in advance on GolfNow). In terms of the condition of the course, overall I found the fairways, bunkers, rough, and greens to be very well maintained considering the price range. I also very much appreciated that, while there were geese everywhere, not a single dropping could be found on any of the greens. You know you’re not going to have a good round when your putts look more like pinball in an obstacle course of goose droppings...
Altogether I would recommend this course to beginners who don’t want the pace-of-play stress normally faced on the bigger or more expensive courses, or anyone who wants to focus on their short game, and see some geese along the way.
Excellent municipal executive nine
This is a great fast course that for the money is impressively maintained/groomed. We, as a group of four with one good player and three total amateurs played a solid round in under two hours.
Nice executive course
Short, well-maintained 9-hole with bunkers and ponds aplenty to give all comers a challenge. Good weather and careful lawn care make for pleasant fairways unlike some other municipal courses in the area.
Wet & soggy
Not sure what they’re doing over there, but the whole course was wet, soggy and muddy. Even though we had a 9 AM teetime, and the sun had had some time to dry out the course, no dryness in sight.
Our equipment, shoes, and socks were all drenched by the end of the round.
Nice short course
This is a nice small course for beginners. I took my daughter yesterday. After lessons and lots of time on a driving range practicing, this was her first time on a real course.
She hit the beginner par on hole 5!! She has a great time!!
T’s and fairways in good shape..Greens good.
I will bring her back
Quick round of 9
The course is short and a little challenging. We had a great time and the round moved along at a good pace. I would play again.
Good layout, but not level
The layout of the course is good. Tee box locations to greens. I found that most Tee boxes are not level and narrow. Since this is Par-3 course the Tee boxes get worn down very fast.
Good beginners 9 hole course.
Ive played here a few times over the years and always have a good time. The couse is pretty well maintained, the staff is friendly and for $17 for a quick round of golf you can't beat the value. I also practice here quite often because $10 for a large bucket of balls goes a long way and even some of the coaches there gave me some quick tips to help improve my game.
Rancho Pueblo
Nice 9 hole course. Lot of compression, pace of play far from what it should be. Saw children (under 10) lying on greens and rolling. No marshals supervising course
