Best maintained public course in the area
I've played all the local 18 hole courses from Santa Rosa to Petaluma and while I am a fan of most, in my opinion Foxtail North is in the best shape. Lush fairways with extremely few dry or wet spots, and greens are very green and run smooth. Not many straight and or flat hole designs. Seven holes have water to consider or creeks to negotiate. Bunkers are placed quite strategically, and there can be some challenging pin placements as almost all greens have slope - just try to stay below the hole. To sum it up there are no trick or gimmicky holes - Foxtail North rewards good shots.
Pace of play was extremely poor. The threesome ahead of me were pretty slow and were hitting off tees they probably shouldn't have been hitting off of (but most guys are going to do that because they have their egos). When they were putting, they took way more time than they needed to. There's still a lot of standing water both in the rough areas as well as the middle of the fairways (hopefully this will improve once the rain stops and we get some decent weather).
Awesome golf course
The course was in great conditions. It rained the night before so the course had some wet spots. Overall the course conditions were great. Enjoyed my round and will be back again
Nice staff, good driving range, rough course conditions.
Staff was welcoming and kind. The range was busy but really nice. Once I got on the course though it was a pretty bad experience. I’ll preface this by saying I’m a 20 handicap so if you’re better at finding the fairway than I am, you shouldn’t have a problem! With that being said though, I’d say about half of my drives didn’t find the fairway and when they didn’t my ball was gone, and my misses probably averaged about 10-20 ft off the fairway. I wasn’t digging near the houses, I was right off the fairway unable to find my ball. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that it was due to winter but the tee boxes were also pretty bad.
A Treat
Fun course to play. I was a single and was let thru by 3 groups in first 6 holes and flew thru thr rest of the course. 3 hour round. Although very wet, the course played really well.
Wet but wonderful
Poring rain didnt stop us from getting in almost a full 18(14) conditions were terrible, flooded fairways soggy puddled greens, water hazards with every shot, but the course is beautuful and on a sunny day woould be very nice to relax and take in the awsome layout of this club.
