Overpriced Garbage
This course has a great layout! It can be a lot of fun to play!
However! They have huge drainage problem when it rains. And in the summer the course is like playing on cement.
They have horrible grass coverage and most of the time you are hitting your ball off dirt, even on the fairway. It makes for a poor experience.
To top it all off they are so over priced it’s a complete scam.
I can’t believe they get away with charging as much as they do! Stop changing your clubhouse and fix your course!
Any rating over 2 stars is a lie.
Don’t play here, especially at their rates. You’re better off playing elsewhere like cowboys course for this much. Such a let down as this course 2 years ago was pretty darn nice. Ownership and management need to do better
Disastrous
I had the misfortune of playing at Frisco Lakes Golf Club today, and it was an experience I hope to forget. To call the fairways "subpar" would be an insult to even the most modest municipal courses. What I encountered was a barren wasteland of dirt and despair, with only the occasional patch of grass to remind me that this was supposed to be a golf course. The greens, while somewhat decent, could not redeem the overall desolation.
Adding insult to injury, the food provided was a travesty. The pizza, included with the $100 rate, was an undercooked, topping-starved excuse for a meal. The dough was raw, and the sauce - if you can even call it that - was repugnant, a flavorless smear that only added to the overall misery of the day.
The course layout has its charms, with water features adding a hint of excitement, but it's hard to enjoy any of it when you're playing on what feels more like a moonscape than a fairway. It's appalling to think that I've played on municipal courses at a fraction of the cost, all of which were in far superior condition.
In summary, Frisco Lakes was a complete letdown. The dire state of the fairways and the abysmal food offering turned what should have been a pleasant round of golf into an utterly regrettable experience. It's a mystery how this place manages to stay in business with standards this low.
Cool layout, poor conditions
Very cool layout (island hole was very cool) but the conditions were pretty poor. Seemed to be hitting off more dirt/mud than grass all day even in the fairways. There wasn’t one ball wash out either. Seems a little pricey for what its current condition is.
Regressing
With summer and warmer temperatures rapidly approaching, there is no excuse for this course to be in the condition it is currently in. Played Heritage Ranch in the same week and the differences are astronomical. The layout at Lakes is one of my favorite, but I’m afraid the course is regressing badly. Almost more bare spots than fairway. The bunkers have no sand and cheap turf is exposed on the bottom of them, must be careful trying to dig too much in the bunkers. They are aware at how poor the condition is as your round comes with a burger and a beer. How about lowering your prices until you figure it out? $50 course AT MOST currently.
My round
Staff is amazing, facility/clubhouse was amazing. I realize I played on March 6 but there was so much dirt and no grass to hit iron shots. Greenskeeper also put pins extremely close to hills on the green so you either had to make it or the ball went 15 feet by. Golf is supposed to be fun, my round was not fun.
Conditions
Great lay out, greens are in good condition, however they cut around the greens way to short and all dirt. If you miss the greens might as well putt from up to 30 yards out
Spring in Frisc
One of our favorite courses in Dallas Metro Plex. Staff,, Rangers, Starter are always friendly and smiling. Greens, fairways are in excellent condition for February in N Texas.
Thanks for the course condition and weather!
The course is in poor condition. They are selectively watering. Greens are good. However there are huge dirt patches and massive cracks in the fairways and roughs, with lots of weeds. Bunkers are in great condition. The layout is very good. It's unfortunate they are saving on their water bill. Overall the course is far below average for public courses in DFW.
What happened??
The greens are in decent shape as this is the only reason the conditions are 2 stars instead of 1 star. The tee boxes haven’t seemed to be mowed in quite some time. The fairways are average at best while the “rough” is bare and sand/dirt in many spots. The current condition of this course should be valued at 30/35 on the weekdays and $55/60 on the weekends. The price of $80 during the week and $110 on the weekends is insane. There are much better options out there!
Good Day of Golf
Beautiful weather and fast pace on a holiday. Not many people on the course so that helped with pace. Hole #8 has a huge dead spot on the green but other than that the greens were great. Tee boxes with being over seeded so had to adjust where I’d normally play from, but not a big deal. The staff here is top notch.
Much Better
The course conditions here are much improved from a year or so ago. Tee boxes - solid, fairways - solid, traps - getting there, greens - nice. Great layout, so with solid course conditions this is a must play!
New golf carts and investment into improved facilities although work is ongoing.
Some unique and interesting holes
Disappointing that some of the holes are cart path only
Very nice course.
Very nice course. Clubhouse is being renovated, so not the easiest time to play. Price was really good compared to normal green fees, but golfnow adds another $10. Would have been better just calling the course.
Course in good shape
They are renovating their clubhouse currently so there are no bathrooms. Course is in good shape though
