The Golf Club at McKinney

Dormant golf course but in very nice condition. Best greens I've played this winter. They are huge,sloped and undulating,and very fast, but held iron shots. Goofy routing makes walking a nightmare and not advised.
Course an overall delight with rolling and split-level fairways, a couple of blind tee shots, and excellent variety. I played tips and found course not overly long. There was more than one fivesome , and some type of Scramble being played but everyone friendly.

Good course for the value. we had a great time. I would suggest people go if they are looking just for an average course but good value.

Thought the course was in poor shape, even for this time of year. I had read what a luxury course this was, but, I certainly couldn't see it. I probably will not return.

Played this course quite a few times. Must be accurate off the tee on a few holes. Green were quick and rough dry due to time of season.

I play GC of McKinney quite often. I've played as a single, paried up, on the weekend, and during the week. I've never had anything less than a great experience.

There are always great deals for this course on GolfNow and they always include free range balls. This is a great bang for you buck course.

Lacking any consistency of green anywhere on the course. I understand its late January but most good courses use proper irrigation techniques allowing grass to grow and not just remain dead. Also, the sand traps are made of this imitation dirt as it is supposed to function as a form of sand. The sand shot's are more similar to one in the hard dead ground of the fairway. Its unfortunate many golfers are subjected to these holes as the course was extremely busy. Not really worth the drive in my opinion.

Expectations were low after reading some reviews on here, but my experience was very positive. The greens are in the top 3 I have played in this area. Lightning fast but very smooth and true - they make you think about your approach shot as you don't want to be above the hole! Fairways and rough were good for a dormant course. Only complaint was the bunkers could be better but still playable. The staff at the pro shop were extremely friendly and helpful, and range balls were included with the round. Overall a great day!!

Expect a lot of VERY frustrating putts. The greens are the most difficult I have ever played. The course slope rating is not difficult, however the slope of the greens are impossible to play combined with the speed. This course is definately NOT for a high handicap golfer, and will challenge even low handicappers.

Pace of play extremely slow. Greens are like putting on cart paths, very hard. Bunkers in bad need or repair. I will not play there again, there are better options.

There was a very slow pace that was not managed by any on course ranger that my playing partner and I ever saw while playing. No ball washers at tees, water coolers did not have any water or even if they would have, did not have any cups available. No refreshment cart ever came by us the entire day. Gave up after 12 holes because of the slow pace and lack of on course service.

Greens were in great shape. Fairways had numerous ant mounds. Was actually told by staff member not to drink the water placed on the course. Didn't know when the last time the water cans had been cleaned or changed the water.

This course offers a little of everything, no 2 holes alike. Great price for a well maintained course. Greens are always in good shape. Blue tees will challenge your game

We were impressed with the course. It was busy but moved well

The fairways and greens were in good shape. The traps were hard packed dirt very disappointing. There no marshals to regulate slow play. No drink cart. The course layout was very strange. Doubles back on itself several times.

It is overall tight with a couple of very tight/narrow ones. The greens were very fast and large and undelating. We had trouble with speed and large breaks you didn't see. I liked several holes but it's tough.

The course was in very good shape despite the rain during the round. We had a great time and played fast.

This course is a challenge, the tee boxes are tight and the Greens are in good shape and soft to land on. The guys in the pro shop wanted to be there and were very engaging. The only real problem on the course was the sand. The bunkers were very inconsistent to the point that my foursome would vote on wether the other players had to play from the bunker depending on the condition of the individual bunker. That being said, it's the only thing I can say bad about the course and it looked like they are getting ready to do some work on them. In summary any weekday tee time under 30 dollars is worth it and you will feel like you got a deal.

Light traffic on Wednesday afternoon. Played in less than 4 hours.
Course in overall good condition. Firm, smooth, speedy greens were the highlight. Nice!

I got this on a Hot Deal....man, it was a hot deal! Course was in fantastic shape. Greens rolled very true and quick. The only hiccup was there was a tournament in the morning and there were a few ball marks on the green.....for the great rate, pace of play, and conditions....heck I'll fix a few ball marks any day! Staff was pre-occupied due to tournament but it had no effect on pace of play. I will return to both Golf Now and Golf Club of McKinney!

Nice course, great greens, but the sand traps are poor.
