Yikes. Greens are gone
Per recent reviews, not sure if disease or weather but greens are gone. Most have 20-50% sand. Have to putt over divots, holes and generally no grass. Remaining grass has not been cut in some time and the green height is of many fairways (which have been cut too low and getting burnt and brown).
Equally frustrating is the course letting groups of 5 off even on weekends. Had 5 ahead of us yesterday, one of which was a woman learning to play with no course etiquette. VERY slow, parked cart near fringe in fairway, etc. 5 hour rounds on course that should be shut down not the way to golf.
Good shape for March
I was happy with amount of green grass on course for early March
Avoid this course!
The course is in very bad shape. For the amount they charge to play this course it should atleast be playable. Beware of playing this course. The second you get on the course you will immediately realize it was a bad mistake. There are plenty of great courses to play in North Dallas. This course is NOT one of them. To top it off, as crappy as the course is, the management and staff are equally as crappy.
First Time--Nice Course!
First time playing it--Nice Course!
1. WIDE Fairways...you can BOMB it here!
2. Decent greens (a little blotchy and bumpy) but nothing too terrible.
3. HUGE sand traps...
4. Massive undulations.
I think of this course like Waterview (in Rowlett) on steroids. Better facilities and carts, busier course, a bit more $$ but the course is sooo much better, more aesthetically pleasing...I dug it a lot---will be back!
Fast play. Casual lakes all over.
Nice course. Poor conditions, but mostly due to seasonal weather.
Great course
The course was great even with all the rain. Staff very friendly. Looks like they're doing a lot of remodeling to the premises. Always enjoy the course .
Good Year-round Track
Staff is consistently friendly and good ambassadors for the game of golf. Winter golf in Texas isn’t pretty. Brown rough and fairways, dyed greens, mud in spots. WestRidge plays well no matter the time of year.
Unique layout
The course plays six par 3's, six par 4s and six par 5s so it is interesting in that aspect. Otherwise, a little above average in regard to layout. Relatively flat but it has a nice mix of berms, creeks, ponds and woods to keep you honest and break up what could be a boring track otherwise.
For winter conditions it was in decent shape but the greens needed to be mowed and were very rough. Traps are horrible though. Top sand is very nice. Get an inch below the surface and it is a parking lot. Saw too many of them during my round and in one the club was ripped from my hands after hitting a rock the size of your fist under the sand and in another, the top sand completely gave way while entering on a modest incline to reveal hardpack which caused my cleated shoes to slip and I fell on my tail.
Pace was good, cost was a little above average but I did get a hot deal which is why I chose to play there (used to be a PLP member there). I will be back eventually but it is highly unlikely it makes my rotation of local courses on a regular basis.
Green is is so green even on winter time!
Absolutely gorgeous compared to any golf course, even on winter time still well maintained.
Fun Track
Westridge is a fair track. It's pretty open and we played on a (rare) windless day. It's one of those courses where it feels like the wind is it's main defense. There are some long hole and challenging holes, but also plenty of chances to score.
Like everywhere else, it''s a bit pricey on the weekend, was a gem for the weekday rate.
Great Course, Lot's of fun
This course has a pretty sweet layout. I'm pretty new to golf and have been playing at many of the public courses around the DFW area. I can say with certainty that this course is my favorite of the bunch. The greens were in good shape, the pace was good and the staff was really friendly.
