Prepare to use every club in the bag
Stonewall is a very difficult course from the gold or silver tee boxes. The design might have to grow on you as there are 4-5 par-4s where a driver is not necessary/discouraged. Each time I play, usually first time in the AM, I seem to get to the 6th hole and feel like my driver has not gotten a chance to warm-up. This is not necessarily negative; however, the 6th, 7th and 8th holes demand a lot from the driver. At this point in the round I ususally feel like I have warmed up, but have not really had a chance to build confidence in my driver.
The course has always been in amazing shape, the carts have GPS units and the staff consistently makes you feel appreciated and they genuinely want you to enjoy your time at the course. I love Stonewall and look forward to playing there several times each year.
Bonus Golf
The course was in good shape especially in November. The pace was just under 4 hours. Good time
Great condition.
Especially for November. Maintenance did a great job with leaves.
Great October Golf
Course was surprisingly empty. Good fall golf conditions. Some holes you get a different feel than your typical Illinois golf course and feel like you’re in rural Michigan or northern Wisconsin. No food on Mondays kind of a bummer but otherwise a great deal on GN.
Great track
1st time at the course, will be back next season many times. Great AH design, great conditions too. Nice to see the the course fully staffed.
Not as good as last time. Ball Marks
The conditions on the Front 9 were not up to Stonewall Orchard's usual standard. Especially the greens which were full of un-repaired ball marks
Good course
Niec layout.
Greens were slow and uneven. To many forced carries with a potential for many lost balls and penalties strokes.
Pga course in my back yard
If you never played this course you are missing out.very pricy but had to take advantage of golf now discount. This course will challenge all your golf needs.come out and give this place a try you won't be sorry.only thing got paired up with 3 guys that taught they were to good for the average golfer. Still had a great time
A must play course
One of the most scenic courses in Illinois. The course in well maintained with a very friendly staff. Although it is a bit more expensive that other courses, the extra expense is well worth it. The course may feel overly challenging for a below average golfer given some challenging carry requirements off the tee, but average and above average player will find it exciting and challenging.
Unbelievably slow
Played on a weekday. Round took 4hours and 40 minutes on a very hot day. Will not consider playing here again at these rates and that amount of time. There are better options at this price point.
We apologize for the longer than expected round time and the inconvenience caused by the hot weather. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our services. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
One of Chicago area's gems
I play here often and it's always in excellent condition. Lots of rain this year has probably helped. The only complaint I have is the greens have too many ball marks from customers not fixing their divots. Have the Rangers add the task of reminding golfers to fix their divots and we'll all appreciate it.
We appreciate the great review! We are happy you enjoy the course and each particular hole for what it has to offer.
See you soon Esox!
