Waited on Staff to open shop to check us in.
Was informed after the fact by the staff member, that the first tee time was at 7:00am. Yet we had to book a 6:50am tee time on GOLFNOW, so we showed up at 6:20AM and had to wait on the staff to check us in. We didn't have time to warm up or hit any practice balls before our tee time. We felt that it was our responsibility to be on the tee at 6:50AM so as not to hold up the other tee times, but due to the staff not showing up to check us in, we were rushed. Note to self, don't plan on teeing off till 7:00am. Now we know. Other than that would recommend the course.
Had a great time
Paired with a local family and great weather and course was in excellent shape.
Great
Great course, great weather, overall enjoyable experience
Getting better
Played the course soon after the new greens were opened. Just top dressed, not mowed, so were not in great playing shape, but will probably be very good by fall. Several bunkers were lacking sand or not playable. Fairways in nice shape. New ownership doing good things with the course.
GREAT VALUE
If you watch Golf Now for a Daily Special you can play the course with a cart for under $45.00. That's a great value even when there are a few temporary greens under construction. The course has some really nice long holes with views of the hill country.
Temporary greens for the next 6 weeks
I've played this course about 5 years ago and it was amazing from tee to green. As we pulled up we thought the greens had been punched and sanded but then we noticed there were temporary greens in front of each green. We were very disappointed to see the greens had been closed. The fairways and tee boxes were decent but not as good as the last time I was there. Yes it was only $22 on a Friday but unless you just want to practice your tee shots I would recommend another course until the greens come in. The staff told us it would be about 6 weeks before they would open them back up.
Poor shape!
I'd demand my money back if I had payed the reg. fee. I still feel like I have been taken advantage @ half price. They(staff) said the condition was due to poor weather conditions in Waco this past winter. Cottonwood creek had the same conditions & it is absolutely beautiful. There was probably at least 80% of the parking lot available at 11:30. I wonder why. They must be in the process of selling this course.
The greens had absolutely no grass to putt on.
I've played here before & have never seen it in this condition. The fairways had weeds everywhere. I asked one of the grounds keepers what had happened to this course, & he said it was due to severe weather this year. I've played at every course in Waco & this was byfar the worse. If I had payed their regular price I would have demanded my money back. Poor turf management is the bottom line. I wish I would have taken pictures.Under regular conditions this would have been a great deal.
This was the worst golf course I've ever played
I played this course because it boasted it was the home of Baylor Golf. It had a great practice facility for Baylor and it was not for public use. The greens looked like sheep grazed on them at night. (Photos attached). The tee boxes were also in poor shape they look like the last time work was done on them was 2 or 3 weeks ago and the tee boxes are not level (the tee box should be the one level shot on every hole). Ant mounds were everywhere, tee boxes, fairway, rough. The fairways were also in poor condition it was difficult to determine where the fairway ended and the rough began. With fees I paid $57.44 and for that I expected a decent golf course not a goat ranch. I've played golf course in south Florida that I paid $20.00 with a cart that are 10 times better than Twin Rivers. Needless to say I will never play Twin Rivers again not even for free.
Sandpaper for greens
This is a beautiful piece of land and once was a great course in Waco. Unfortunately, the new owners (I guess) have let the course go to pot. The greens were horrendous. Tee boxes were bad. Overall just looks like the course is not being taken care of. It's a shame because it could be a really nice course. The same group bought Lake Country Club in Waco and it is not much better. I wish these guys would stop buying golf courses in Waco because they are ruining them! We are now only left with Cottonwood as the one decent public course around here. And worse than all of this is that they haven't lowered their prices for such a poor conditioned course.
golf without greens is frustrating
Course has a fantastic layout. Very challenging. Staff is friendly and helpful. However the greens are an embarrassment. It is a shame they have ruined such a good course by just giving up on greens.
Sand greens
Course is fun and challenging. Course is maintained well except for the greens . There is no grass on the greens . There are only sand greens and the owner/staff don 't seem to be doing anything about it.
The course at Twin Rivers
We only got 10 holes in before it began raining hard. Overall I enjoyed the course. I would like to come back once the greens grow in. The grass was still somewhat dormant from winter.
Nice layout, greens a little thin but overall great place to play
Very nice course, we'll worth the price greens a little thin, great layout, bunkers need a lot of work
very fun
the course is just beginning to green up after a tough winter. enjoyed the scenery and the layout. several hidden bunkers and hazards. i should have purchased a yardage book. look forward to playing again.
Nice layout
My daughter and I enjoyed the course/ layout. Greens were a little thin with not much grain but weather has been torture on grass in texas lately. They still rolled good just fast. Other than sprinkler getting cut on 18th green as we were hitting approach shots in to it(had to wait 10 plus minutes for them to be shut off) we have no complaints. We'd definitely like to play it again!
Great course that need a little TLC
Excellent layout. Greens fair with fairways in need of grass. Played for less than $19.00. Will go back for that price. Jewel in the raw.
Awesome Round!
This was my first time to play Twin Rivers. The course was laid out well and the landscape was beautiful. It has now become my favorite course to play!
