Golf gods are watching
Greens were in best shape we’ve seen in 6 months. Unfortunately, I fixed two ball marks for every one of mine. It is a shame the disrespect people have for the course and game. By the depth and positioning of the divots, they are not beginning golfers but people who should understand what a good approach shot does to a green and are just choosing not to fix them. The putting gods are not favorable to those that don’t fix their divots and they are watching. ;-)
A Hidden Gem
This is a privately owned golf club. They regularly close it down to do maintenance. A few greens need some TLC. Other than that it is in amazing shape. In fact, it's one of the best around Tampa that I've played.
I like hole 9. Interestingly, they placed the 1st and 3rd hard holes right after each other. That was rather cool. The tight fairways can get you into trouble. Watch out for the many water hazards. Also, one hole has a lot of bunkers.
This has quickly become one of my three favorite holes.
The course was ours
We played and we’re literally the only players on the course. Very good greens, not so good tee starts. All amenities were closed
Terrible
Pace of play was only thing good about this place because we were only ones there. Greens weren't bad but rest of course was horrible. Tee time was 11am done by 2pm clubhouse was locked couldn't even get a drink after the round. Don't waste your time or money.
Greens WOW
The pro shop guy was grumpy, the sand traps are largely ignored and the course overall is still pretty wet (understandably)
BUT WOW, those greens are incredible. Hands down better than any other courses I've played recently. Flat, pure and true, rolling like magic. If you are a greens fanatic this course is for you
First Time Palying This Course
Overall, good place to play for the money. Tee boxes need some attention. Fairways in decent shape and the greens were as well. Didn't care to much for the driving range as you hit balls into a lack with only one target out there. Staff was great.
Thank you for your review. We are in the process of giving the tees chemical attention as well as the fairways. Right now we are so short staffed its really been a struggle. We have three people including superintendent irrigation tech, and greens bunker guy. The yardage markers on the lake have broken away and the guy who was going to come fish them out has been quarantining since last hurricane when the two markers broke away. The work we are doing will definitely show itself in the next few weeks , weather and employee availability permitting.
Good Overall Conditions
We had a good time even with hot/humid weather. Overall condition of course was good. The Greens were in very good condition, Fairways were in fair condition a few spots was very sandy, Tee boxes were hit and miss {some in very good condition and a few were sandy). Pace of play was excellent. Good course for the $$. We will be back again. Owner seems to always be trying to improve course.
Best greens in the area. Tee boxes are the weak link. But who really gives a rats a.. about the condition of a tee box as? As long as the grass doesn't have a lion in ambush, I'm good. So much fun on the greens.
Fantastic greens
This course was quite the surprise. A bit off the beaten path but well worth the stop! Greens were perfect and fairway were pretty great too. Only issue was the tee boxes but I’ll take that any time. Highly recommend for the money. We will definitely be playing here again very soon!
Must play in Tampa Area
This is a must play course! Summer golf in Florida is hit or miss with courses aerating greens and fairways and this course right now is in great shape and greens are fantastic for this time of year. Tee boxes I would give 8 out of 10, fairways 9 out of 10 and greens 10 out of 10 for this time of year. I would highly recommend.
Bring your best or pay the price!
I'm not sure about some of the reviews I've seen on here. This is a fantastic layout and considering all the rain we have had the last 2 months AND the seasonal aeration that all courses must do, this place is in terrific shape. The greens have healed nicely and were rolling about 10 on the stimp...they rolled out perfectly. The fairways were 9/10 a well. If u beat it sideways, then you are gonna have a tough round. The rough is penal. And for the price?!? 10/10 recommend
Used to be nice
I last played this course about 10 years ago. It was always very well kept and maintained. They staff was always on point. This is the first time I have played here since it was sold by the family that used to own it. I was extremely disappointed at the lack of care given to the course. The clubhouse and surrounding areas appear to be needing much repair. The course itself doesn’t look like it is regularly watered or mowed. No rakes in the traps, and just generally appears neglected. The staff wasn’t very friendly, and seemed to be bothered that they had to work. They switched the front and back nine, which doesn’t make sense since the former 18th, now the 9th, used to be a great finishing hole. It’s a shame that no one seems to care about making this course as good as it can be. It used to be a very nice place to play. I won’t be returning.
Great Course
Not the 1st time I’ve played. Greens are close to being back from punching. The greens have always been what makes this course good. The course isn’t country club pristine but it is a challenging layout. There are no gimmick holes. 8,9,11, &12 are 4 holes that pretty much require good shots in repeated order. 17 & 18 are two great closing holes. The owner is local and has what we all wish we had “our own golf course.” Each time I show up there is something new. He’s trying to get it up to standard and I will keep coming back.
Thank you for the comment. I am sure there was someone there on property. With staffing shortages thru covid golf courses are doing their best. If you played in 3 hours someone was their as some played 3,5 afters after you did. Could have run to Publix to buy ice or the back to wash carts. Thank you for your review.
