Royal/Sabal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
About
Famous for having some of the best greens in south Florida, Pembroke Pines' Grand Palms Golf & Country Club offers three nine-hole courses: Royal, Sabal and Grand. The three golf courses are played in three separate combos, with the Royal/Sabal coming in at a robust 6,847 yards from the gold tees. The golf course traverses across a landscape of tropical foliage and thick palms, providing both a challenge and a reminder of what south Florida golf has to offer. The Royal/Sabal shines with player-friendly fairways and generous greens.

Course Conditions Terrible with Thieves Roaming the Course
I have played this course numerous times being a South Florida Resident and I have never seen the course conditions this bad. I mean Im not sure how you can justify charging someone to play on the course the way it is. Greens were all dead and looked like Leopard Spots on all of them. The fairways were a little better then the greens but not much more. The tee boxes were rough and looked similar to the greens. You would think the Pro Shop would inform the customers about the course conditions before sending them out but not even a heads up or why the course was in the shape it was. To top off the day, on the last hole i dropped my head cover in the middle of the fairway and realized it when we were up at the green. As we were getting ready to head back to retrieve it, a random person in what looked like a member or custom golf cart zoomed by us going in the opposite direction and scooped up my head cover and took off. We chased him for 2 holes screaming, whistling and yelling at him to stop he never did. With no luck of him stopping, he made a sharp turn onto the Public Road and darted off the course and was gone. I am so disappointed in the course and more so at the fact that the course allows Thieves to roam around and steal peoples belongings. Unless something drastically changes to this course, this will be the last time i ever play Grand Palms.
Course needs to be close for a year
I’ve been playing golf for the last 25 years and this is the worst condition course I’ve ever played. The conditions were horrible. It has 27 holes in every single green with damaged of course needs to be shut down for a year for repairs.
Worst greens EVER
We have played here a few times over the last two years and the course just gets worse and worse. Today the greens were horrendous and should be considered unplayable. We paid $35 for the twilight tee time however based on the conditions of the greens I wouldn’t even say it is worth that cost. I like the course layout is great and it would be a nice course if it was in better condition, won’t be playing here again for atleast 6 months. Such a shame. Attached is a photo of the greens (incase you can’t see what it is!)
Unplayable
Greens are unplayable. The course doesn’t seem to drain well as it was soaked and all we had was a light morning shower overnight. The first tee box and fairway were overgrown but filled so I can’t say much there but the greens are destroyed. My wife and I got a refund after seeing this hole And the staff told us that all the Green are not puttable. They told us when we were asking for a refund and not before. I can’t imagine this course being an option for several months that it’s current state.
Needs Improvement!
The course is ok. Looks visually nice. There are no maps or hazards displayed. You can not visually see the pond hazards in several areas. You loose a lot of balls because of this. The greens are way too wet and are brown and lumpy. Hard to gauge the speed. The course needs much needed improvement.
Horrible greens conditions
I'm disappointed Golfnow has this golf course on there list, I expected more. The condition of the greens on the course are horrible, in fact unplayable. There is not one green in good condition, seems this course does not have a greens keepers , I'm surprised it's still open.
The staff does their best to attend to you , but this course should be shut down until they repair the course.
Bad shape, greens unplayable
Course is in very bad shape. Every single green is literally unplayable, full of weeds and dead spots. Is like they have given up.
NOT THE SAME COURSE
This used to be my favorite course, I wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone for multiple reasons.
1. Terrible Greens
2. Fees don’t go to fixing the course
3. Employees are saying the owner does not want to pay for upkeep and likes to keep the money instead.
!!DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COURSE!!!
Course needs some Love
Tee boxes were the best thing on the course. Couldn’t really putt on the bumps on the greens. Need a little more signage and direction on which back nine to play. Course seems like it was a nice course once upon a time but now needs a little love to bring it back.
Greens? Ehhhh, maybe not.
The staff members at this course are awesome!
Unfortunately, this trait does not carry over to the course itself. The greens were the absolute worst we've ever seen. I have included one photo that is representative of their overall "quality" but could have easily added about 16 more.
Occasionally you will encounter a tee box that is in excellent condition, or a fairway that is actually plush, but I believe this is more indicative of what this course used to be rather that its current state. In its current condition this course is worth no more than $25 - $30 a round.
