It’s golf in February. Just do it.
Look, it’s February in GA. I’m a golf pass member so with all the discounts and such, it’s a great deal. If you are a golf junikie who just needs to get a round in, do it! The greens were in great shape. Fairways and tee boxes are ready for the spring sprucing. But everyone was nice and I had the place to myself. If you have kids and are on “ski” break line we are, the serenity is priceless.
Group Fun!
We planned a two day golfing weekend at Kingswood and really enjoyed the weekend. We got a Golf Moose deal , so cost wasn’t an issue. First day was rough due to blind hits. Second day was better. Great views and friendly staff. Amenities were limited. All in all, 4 Star weekend…
The Hills Have Hills
There are some hilly courses and then there is Kingwood. Yes the course has some blind shots; however, it has ca character and uniqueness that I strive to find in golf courses. I remembered most of the holes after the round and most importantly had a blast playing.
Beware the Back Nine
The front nine is a C+/B-. The back nine is an F. To call #17 a golf hole is like calling my toddler’s scribble on an envelope art. Talk about forcing a golf hole where one doesn’t fit! Number 18 is the only acceptable hole on the back. Unless you are playing with people who know the course, good luck. I’ve never hit more blind shots. If you must play the course, ask if you can play the front nine twice. The round was $70! If a friend hadn’t graciously paid my greens fees, I would’ve asked for a refund. $30 or $40 is a more reasonable price for such a course. The greens were also painfully slow. If you’re in the area looking to play, I recommend you look around for other courses.
great course
Great course and staff. Hotel on site . Best value in north Georgia.
Overpriced / Crab Grass
Payed $60 for a morning tee time on a Saturday. Pace of play was slow. People went off at random with no direction, because there is no ranger. Took 4.5 hours for a 2 some to play.
The front 9 was enjoyable, and the course was in pretty good shape. However, the greens are full of crab grass, which is unacceptable at that price point. The views were nice, and I would say the front would’ve been worth paying $30 for.
However, incomes the back 9. The hole layouts are a mess and you’d be be better off closing your eyes and swinging because of all the blind shots. Tee boxes are dirt, and a ton of mud in some of the fairways.
TLDR: overpriced. Pretty fun front 9 followed, by some of the worst golf holes I’ve ever played. Crab grass greens, might as well be aerated. $40 course at best. Although the golf carts are like driving Cadillac’s. They are super nice, probably should have spent that money on the back 9 or the greens.
Fun course with beautiful views and scenery.
This was my first time to Kingwood. It is a fun mountain course with lots of elevation changes. The course is not a long course (6000 from the tips). Even though the course is no long, it demands well placed shots to stay out of trouble. Tine Bent Grass greens are great (smooth, fast very few ball marks along with plenty of undulation). The elevation changes and views are beautiful and lots of fun. In the pro shop they give you complementary cold, bottled water for your round. Make sure to take bug spray as the bugs and insects are flying around you. A couple of the holes on the back nine are goofy and not great (mountain holes #'s 15 & 17).
All in all, a fun course in great condition that I highly recommend.
Excellent Course Design
This is a very well maintained mountain course. The staff is competent and friendly. Greens were excellent today. While there are several "gettable" holes, many are challenging requiring accurate shots to avoid trouble. A good layout, never boring; no
back & forth holes. Large, CLEAN comfort station, carts in good shape with good cart paths. Nicely landscaped (wife insists it's one of the prettiest we've played). Complimentary chilled bottled water. Golf shop is fair. A good value. We will play here again!
Beautiful course and Layout
Course was wet after heavy rains and required Cart Path Only. Scenery was beautiful, Grass was lush, and Greens were good. Would love to play the course under normal fall conditions.
Fun Course
This was my first time to Kingwood and it was a great time. This is a fantastic mountain course. It is not extremely long (6000 from the tips) but it demands thought and well placed shots to stay out of trouble. Tight Bent Grass greens with plenty of undulation. The elevations and views are great. The staff was welcoming and very helpful and friendly.
I will definitely be going back soon !
Kingwood Country Club & Resort
This is a great little mountain golf course. It's a short course with some extreme elevation changes where you feel like you're teeing off from the top of the world. The bent grass greens were fast and tricky to read. It's a fun mountain course to play and I play it whenever I vacation here.
Great Mountain Course
Fairways were like carpet....rough was challenging....greens were in excellent shape....thought the first cut around greens were incredible and plenty of room around the greens to recover if one misses the green.....many challenging holes yet plenty of opportunities to take chances for birdies and eagles.
All around, this is a fabulous course and we plan to go back often. Just an enjoyable outing....can't wait to play there again!!
mountain golf
Short but challenging due to elevation changes, water or woods on almost every hole. May need to bring some extra ammo if you're not a straight shooter!
Always Love PlayingThis Course
I vacation up in Clayton twice a year. While up there, I always try to play a couple rounds at Kingwood. I love this golf course. The only drawback is that they always seem to have new ownership. The property and course are amazing. Just a shame that this place has not caught on. If you are in the area, this is definitely worth a visit. Greens and fairways are always in good shape. You cannot beat the views while out there. Makes the double bogeys easier to swallow.
Good times
Always a challenge playing the rolling hills of north Georgia
The course was very nice except for #15 and #17
The course was very nice. The only drawback were holes 15 and 17. It seems a shame to finish your round with those holes being a part of it. On 17 I would recommend the golf course connect both areas of fairways.
Fair bu tchallenging
Course was great condition and beautiful views. Don't let views distract from shot placements required. Score able holes but placement key
Kingwood A Must Play
I teed of at 11:20 am. No wait. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the course. Fairways and greens were in great shape. I loved playing here.
Disappointment. I'm a diebetic and they did not let coolers on the course. So when I went in for a bite at the turn, there was no snack bar. They said they had Hotdogs and sandwiches but they were out. It was 1pm. Candy just doesn't cut it.
All in all , great golfing though. I would return.
Great Course, Great People
Love this place! Really fun course and great people!
Great mountain course
