Fair
Bear Creek is what it is an average course. The greens are usually its best feature as they are clean and fast. Tee boxes are not great, fairways have spots and crab grass, and sand traps need sand. We started out behind an extremely slow group and since this course has no marshals we were stuck till they let us play thru at seven. In the end the round was 4 3/4 hours due to the slow start. No beverage carts, no coolers allowed, yet no coolers built into the carts. This course used to be a budget course due to its lack of amenities and course condition. Now their rates rival better courses in the area but since we had a golfnow credit on a hot deal we played the course. I would not have payed the $45-$40 weekend morning rate for this course. Sorry, I do like the layout, should be better for the rates charged.
Nice Course-Overbooked
Loved the course. Going through some renovations and upgrades. Parking lot too small and had to park down the road. T time delayed an hour due to over booking and waiting for carts to be ready. Overall a good experience with nice clubhouse and cart services that came around about every 4 holes. Would go again. Just not happy with a one hour delay on t time.
In terrible shape
I hope the problems are because they are remodeling the course, but it was awful. Sand and dead spots all over the fairways and some greens. The layout is terrible and the signage is terrible so you get lost. They had a couple of what looked like temporary holes just stuck in. One par 3 was right behind the driving range and you had to hit off a mat. Most of the tee boxes were baren dirt with no grass at all and not level. I don't think I had a flat level lie on a single tee box. The course is just in really poor shape and that doesn't even speak to the over one hour behind they were after setting tee times 5 minutes apart until noon and running out of golf carts. I won't be playing here again.
Just So, So ...
As I hadn't played this course since it was known as Woodlake back in the early 2000s, I figured I would give it a shot. I must say I was disappointed. The course is a bit run down. to start with, the cart paths need some serious work done to them; they have completely fallen apart. The driving range also needs to have tee boxes where you can at least hit off a tee (use rubber tees under the mats like real driving ranges at the very least.) Also, the course layout was confusing. We had to drive from what seemed like another zip code to get from hole 15 to 16, only to find the tee box on 16 was a cement platform with carpet on it, hitting down to a small par 3. The drive to 17 was then crazy long. The greens were in fairly good shape. Several greens contained sand to firm them up I suspect as the summer golf season is now upon us and the use of the greens will be more consistent. Lastly, a little aggravating but we tee'd off a full 30 minutes after our tee time. Overall, not a great value for the $73 paid.
Course is awful.
Tee boxes are garbage as well as a lot of the greens and fairways. Cost to play should be lowered just for the inconvenience of hole 13 alone. Literally sat waiting for bulldozers to move for about 10 minutes before we could go by. I know that’s the start of the course being repaired, but it’s not worth the money you pay to go play here right now. Won’t be returning for a while.
Joke!
This is getting ridiculous at this course. Late teeing off for whatever reason. Started 30 minutes late and they ran out of carts. They need to buy more friggin carts and stop making tee times when they have a shot gun start. Definitely considering not playing this course again.
Hour Delay, Lack of Carts
There was an hour delay for our tee time, with no prior notice or discount on the rate. There were also not carts for everyone. Not worth the cost or drive
Greens rolling
Greens are rolling good and course is in good condition
My absolute favorite
This is an excellent golf course it’s plays in many different ways but always very very nice. Greens are always pretty fast and roll very true especially in the summer. I’ve been coming here for a long time now starting my golf journey. Not only does the staff here feel like family but even ever member and player here are super friendly and help me in many ways. I’ve came a long way to be where I am today. You might here these bad reviews all over about here but really I tell you this place is amazing everything is good the people, the place, and the environment. It’s a must.
Thank you for your kind words and for recognizing the effort our team puts into making the golf course enjoyable and welcoming. We're thrilled to hear about your positive experiences and appreciate you sharing them.
Over booked
I like the course and the power just the pace of play with no one to speed people up was not good. 6 hour day for 18th is awful
Hello, u144031561. Thank you for visiting us at Bear Creek Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Great For Money
Course in good condition, a couple of hole need work due to rain.
Great course - Great staff
A beautiful layout conveniently located. A good value. Friendly staff. Recommend.
Staff was great they let us go off earlier because the rain was coming in and they were not that busy. They are working on many improvements. Green were nice. Bunkers good too.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Bear Creek Golf Club.
Solid Course, Some Holes in Flux
Have played here many times and like the layout overall, about medium difficulty with very good & fast greens being the highlight of conditions here. Very friendly service, do run into some fairly slow play at times here and actually ended up skipping the final 2 holes because the back-up of players was so heavy. Par 4 13th hole is under major resurfacing and reconstruction, temporary tees are way forward in the 190-210 yards range and a very tight, difficult shot for what is basically a long par 3 now. Hole 16 is also a tiny par 3 with driving range mats for the tee areas, so realistically there are only 16 true holes at the course currently. Rest of the course is fairly fun, staff is friendly, and overall playing conditions somewhat above average. A lot of cleared tree areas on the course to set up for future improvements have it somewhat unattractive in spots, but doesn't bother me much. Know they are working to improve the conditions in various areas over time.
The owners wife was terribly rude and disrespectful.
There weren’t enough carts for the players. People with later tee times were grabbing carts ahead of people with current tee times. There were no staff around to manage the chaos. I asked the gentleman who was bringing out the carts about the process and out comes the owner’s wife yelling at me. She told me if I didn’t like the process then just don’t come back. She’s standing there yelling at me in front of the rest of customers, putting her finger in my face. So terribly rude. Confirmation of her behavior being the norm came from the other staff members who said she is loud and rude to others. I love the course but stay away from the owners wife.
A fantastic course!
A scenic and challenging layout. Winter play was very good with excellent greens, and can't wait for the fairways to green-up later this spring. The staff are helpful and very friendly and so are the fees.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Bear Creek Golf Club.
We apologize for the delay and the inconvenience with the carts; your feedback is invaluable to us for improving. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
