Know where to hit it
Took advantage of a Hot Deal and overall had a good time with friends. Second time out here, played Blue to Red. Both 9s start with challenging par 5s because of water hazards. If you don't know where to hit it, or where to lay up you will find trouble.
Most greens were in good shape but a number are burned out or have other dead spots. Fairways in great shape and rough was thick but not too high.
Biggest issue was slow play on Red course, apparently due to homeowners walking/riding on without checking with proshop. I say this because the two two-somes that slowed us down disappeared on 17 (Red 8).
NOT the fault of course mgmt but lack of etiquette was troubling. Our group was not fast but waited on 13-16 which caused a sub4 hour to go to 4hr plus. Our group let a single play thru but he didn't get waived thru either. AND THESE WERE ADULTS IN CARTS, NOT JUNIORS! No idea how to fix it except teach golf etiquette and display the same.
This course can be maintained better.
This is a great and challenging course when it is maintained top notch. This year they haven't taken care of it as much as last year and it shows.
A good test at a very reasonable cost.
To get the most out of this course you need to be able to hit a drive that will carry 200 yards If you can do that then there are multiple holes that are much more interesting. There are some brown spots on some of the greens but even those greens putt true. Overall it is a good test at a very reasonable price.
Reluctant workers...
We were the first group to tee off and ran into sprinklers on three of the first four holes - two of which we had to pick up our ball and move on to the next tee. When staff came by we felt that we were inconveniencing their work in order to try and use the course.
Fun course to play.
This course is challenging off the tees and keeps you thinking through the green.
I look forward to playing it again.
Decent greens, decent fairways, thats all.
The look of the course was nice, the set up was fun. However, upon landing my drive in a bunker on hole one, and finding actual large sized rocks in the bunker, I obviously became displeased immediately. The yardage markers were off significantly unless I actually can hit my pitching wedge 150 yards.. (which I cant). Tee boxes on any hole not requiring or favoring anything other than a wedge were reduced to dirt. I was happy with the grooming of the greens and fairways but thats about it.
A fair test of golf with an open layout and a lot of scenic marshland areas
I booked this tee time only because the course that I wanted to play didn't have any times left. It was an enjoyable round as I played solo. The front nine in an hour and ten minutes and the back nine in an hour and a half (caught up to a foursome and a twosome that were ahead of me#. I didn't notice anyone ahead of me until 16. Although it was built through neighborhoods, it was quiet and peaceful and I felt immerged in nature. This is my first time golfing in Minnesota and I understand the winters last a little longer....which showed in the turf conditions. Overall, it was what I expected though. The course had an open layout amongst the marshlands. The trouble areas are easy to avoid but if you don't, you will suffer severely. I would only play this course again if I could find a much better deal as I thought that $40 was overpriced compared to many other courses. I did find the sand a few times #and while I was waiting on 16 a few times on purpose). If you have the misfortune of finding the beach, they have the BEST sand traps I've ever played!
for the average golfer it's a bit tough but a must play course.
shorter holes but don't let that make you think its easy, if you are hitting your woods off the tee keep them in the fairway or you will be in trouble, on a lot of holes a iron off the tee and a iron to the green is all you need.
Decent
Decent course, greens were a little shaggy. Driving areas sometimes hard to figure out. Playing the course a few times would help.
Slower round than expected, possibly due to no ranger around on the course even though on a Sunday.
Condition wise the course in decent shape. However the over 5 hour round tends to detract from making it more of an enjoyable experience. This course provides ample opportunity to lose golf balls if not hitting it straight.
long and challenging
this is a very good course. The staff are nice and bother free. good communication and accommodation. will definitely be golfing there very often, it was my first time this year
