Worst course conditions in South Florida
Colony West Championship has the worst conditions in South Florida. period!
I have played all SF courses and no doubt this one has to improve a lot to be competitive. Teeboxes are in very bad shape, irregular surfaces, sand instead of grass. Greens are full of patches, sand instead of grass...
In 2 words: Not recommended as today
Worth the money
This is my second round on this course other then slow play found the course challenging, fairways and greens in good condition, tee boxes poor, bunkers have nice white sand and they have sand. Good value for price . I will play again to see if pace speeds up during the off season. Course played by another of local seniors. Not that I'm not one of them. So in conclusion rough is short easy to find your ball this should speed up play . I WILL SEE.
Enjoyable round in the sunshine
Interesting course with lot of water, fast greens and some testing holes. As an 18 handicapper thought it was a good test. Suspect too hard for beginner.
Terrible first impressions
Don’t waste your hard earned money and valuable time playing here. There is no driving range, and it does not say that anywhere on the website. When we arrived at the course we were told we could not check in until 20 mins before our tee time - this slows the pace of everything down. As we were early for our tee time , and couldn’t warm up , we hung around with everyone else at the putting green - which is where the starter is. I’ve played golf , like so many in various places in Canada and USA , I have never experienced a starter with such a horrible attitude. He was belligerent, ignorant and just down right rude - as the first point of contact to the experience at the Colony , he downright failed the test to make me want to come back. It left such a bad taste for me that I am writing this review - so DO NOT play this course , there are so many welcoming courses who are happy to have you play. Oh and PS - he actually had a tip jar out !
Delays and more delays
I had a tee-time @3:06 pm left at 4:05 pm. not really possible to play 18 holes, as the pace was very slow, and we had to quite playing at tee 15th.
Good course but surroundings are a bit nasty
First time playing, paired with another nice twosome and starter was very nice. Pace of play was very good. Greens were in great condition. Fairways were pretty decent. Layout of holes was interesting. As a female golfer I thought the course was very fair from ladies tees and allowed me to be competitive with the men in the foursome.
My only real complaint is that the golf course is situated in the middle of some very old condos that are very dilapidated and I felt like I was playing in an unsafe area at times. On the one par 3 I actually couldn’t wait to finish the whole as there was a huge fight going on in the parking lot and I was concerned what may happen and spread to course.
The golf play was quite nice and enjoyable, just wish the surroundings were cleaned up. Assuming course wishes the same thing.
Will Be Back - Did not disappoint
Played Colony West - Championship course last year and tried it again after our good experience. Did not disappoint once again.
Check in was fantastic in the pro shop. They were polite and efficient. Starter got us off early. Course in good shape. Greens rolling fast and bunkers were raked and neat. Beverage cart on the course and the restaurant was open. Will be back again this year and again next year
Champions course
Greens are nice and big and receptive. Tees boxes need work. No ball washers to be found and no sand to fill divots. Also, no one fixes ball marks
Very Busy at the Starting Gate but Well Managed
I guess as most courses in March the pace was brutal. They need a Ranger or someone to manage the pace on the course to wake up some golfers that there are other groups trying to play a normal time-efficient round. Other than that this course is a great value!
watch out
After 9 holes rains came. 3 inches made course unplayable. rainchecks given to. nongolnow players. we were told to contact. golfnow. I gave golfnow all info...have not heard a thing...why bother...go nothing. be careful.
Good course for the money
Paid $70 and felt that was a very good deal for a nice course. Greens were great. Fairway grass was pretty thin. No driving range is a drawback. Would definitely play it again.
