Temple golf course
I love coming here for a practice round it’s quite a short course with no par 5’s but all the holes are challenging and it has some great views.
The course is now back to its original layout although there is one hole that needs remapped on golf now as the hole has been altered and the green has moved (8th)
Colin Burrows
Course lay out and tee boxes poor, found a lot of stones on the tee boxes which would damage players clubs ,pictures of course layout on each tee would be a great help as haven’t played here in a number of years .
Hidden Gem
Brilliant course. Suits all golfers. A few blind Par4’s are challenging and both Par 3’s leave little margin for error. Dual tees are varied on a few holes. Some holes have 2 tee boxes side by side. Course is largely well maintained in general.
Fantastic 9 hole course
Really enjoyed 9 holes here. Course is very well maintained and excellent value for money. Be prepared for a walk though as its very hilly! But they use the hills well to create some very interesting holes. Would definitely return
First time at temple
Lovely course, great selection of challenges, members very polite and courteous great to get out and get another 18 holes under my belt
surprisingly good
As with this being a nine hole course when playing 18 holes you would expect to be hitting alot of the same shots on the second time round. This however is not the case as they have set out separate tee boxes meaning the perfect play you made last time on a hole ends up in the river next time round. this makes you think of your club selection and personal ability very enjoyable course.
The fairways are very well looked after greens are highly maintained tee boxes could be marked out clearer but this is a small issue and doesn't take away from the gameplay.
with covid the club house is closed so can not comment. The course office/shop is neat and tidy.
If I could say one issue this course might have is that it is very hill heavy so if you struggle to walk a course comfortably then this might be a challenge. however the do have carts that you can rent i believe.
All this said I would love to play this course again and will 100% return.
Slow pace of play
Slow pace of play due to being a nine hole course, with golfers playing the first and back 9 at the same time . Inconsiderate 4 balls not allowing singles or 2 balls to play through. Also it's if golfers not replacing divots or fixing pitch marks.
slow pace
due to being a 9 hole course , the pace was slow on the back 9. Inconsiderate 4 balls not letting singles or 2 balls through
Very hilly
Not a good choice unless you're fit. It's very hilly but the benefit of that is that you get to enjoy some great views.
The course is very short, so most par 4 holes are a drive and a wedge for a decent golfer.
The 8th/17th is a great hole. The rest are so-so.
The food in the clubhouse is of a decent standard and good value.
OK 9 hole
We didn't know it only had 9 holes, played 18. by the time we got back to number 10 (hole 1) there was 3 four balls playing on the same hole. Back 9 was terribly slow with the over crowded holes so we decided to leave.
Smashing 9 holer
The course itself is situated about 20 minutes drive outside Belfast and easy to get to.
The course itself is a nicely laid out parkland course, no par 5s, but 7 par 4s and 2 par 3s. The course itself isn’t long, nice yardages for a mid to high handicapper. Par 4s are all less than 400 yards of the yellow tees. The course is well maintained and looks inviting to play, the greens though spiked (which the time of year is a given) rolled pretty well.
The other comment I would make is walking off the 9th to get back to the clubhouse is pretty steep and I’m of average fitness so be forewarned. Just having played the course once I would say the course has changed the layout. I would think the 5th would’ve been the 1st originally and to be honest if it wasn’t it should be, as it would make sense as you would end at the clubhouse.
Never got the opportunity to see the clubhouse due to covid restrictions.
As stated a lovely 9 holer, if you’re a low handicapper definitely not for you, for most golfers a nice test
