Coloniale Golf Club

It's been around 6-7 years since I last played at Coloniale Golf Club. My playing partner and I returned to the course this past spring to play our second match in this years "World Amateur Match Race" competition.

Check in early as the driving range and practice areas are available to get you into the right frame of mind.

The tee boxes are listed as Decks 1 through 5 so course length can range from 5202 to 7014 yards from the tips. Deck 2 stretched 6560 yards so every measure of skill we had as a team was going to be required at that distance. The fairways are of generous dimensions although early season conditions meant there were a few areas that were a little thin but still very playable. There are a number of dog legs left and right and hole 16 offers a split fairway for golfers to ponder.

I was able to find a couple of the over 90 fairway and greenside bunkers that are strategically placed throughout the grounds. Water hazards of which there are 9 should be avoided. There are some minor elevation changes. The greens complexes are of a good size with plenty of contours and ridges to navigate. The greens were holding well struck approach shots and putts rolled out at a very nice pace.

Overall, the Coloniale Golf Club is a good test of golf. Players will be asked to play a variety of shots during the course of their round. We won our match 5 & 3.

Nice golf course with houses to watch for

I played this course a few times over a few years. It isn't my favorite course but course it self is pretty nice and well maintained. The green is fairly fast and lots of bunkers with most of fairway is not flat at all. This golf course has houses that you need to watch, if you are not a golfer that knows how to hit the ball straight LOL. Also If you are one of walk and play golfer, there are few roads that you have to crossing the road between hole to hole. But overall, It is still pretty nice golf course to challenge yourself.

Great Track

If you haven't played here, you have to! Its a very well laid out course that challenges your game and is in fantastic shape for May. The staff is extremely friendly and the refreshments cart knows exactly when to be there.

Course in good shape and fun to play

Played for the first time on about 10 years. I wasn’t impressed 10 years ago but enjoyed the round today. I will play here again. Greens are getting in great shape, fairways were very nice. Maybe a little over priced but not bad.

Course okay, facilities need refresh

Like the course and changes in challenge level from hole-to-hole. The greens did not fare well over the winter but in fairness, this is the case for a least a few in the Edmonton area. Unfortunately though, this makes putting here routine to impossible depending on where the holes are cut . Clubhouse and pro shop are showing some age and, in my opinion, an annual "pick an area and renovate it" program might be a good idea. Still, a good course to play.

Great Condtion

This course is usually in immaculate condition. The greens took awhile to come in this year but now are in excellent condition.
This is a fairly wide open course however it is very challenging as their are several risk and reward holes. Most greens are well protected by bunkers and many tee shots require accuracy or you will end up in a bunker. Mast greens are sloped or tiered so it is important to putt well. One of the better courses in the Edmonton area

Coloniale GC

The overcast & cool October weather can't keep an avid golfer from his appointed round. The lack of foliage helped to focus on finding fairways & greens in regulation. A well laid out track, strategically placed bunkers, fairly quick & receptive greens, false fronts & a few water hazards placed a premium on ball striking & course management. Cordial staff & a spacious clubhouse topped off a good day.
