Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club - Raven

The 36 hole golfing playground known as Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club is a private golf facility that has been around since 1983. The Raven and The Hawk, two fantastic 18 hole courses, have played host to numerous events both at the professional and amateur levels.

So when the Alberta Golf Tour listed Priddis Greens as a venue for one of their 2019 tournament stops there was no way I was going to pass up an opportunity to play. The drive in offers players a sneak peek at a few of the holes to let you know that this isn't going to be your typical muni layout. Expectations were high and Priddis Greens delivered on all counts.

The clubhouse imposing and pro shop expansive with every need of golfers covered. Practice facilities include both an artificial mat and grass driving range, practice bunkers and greens short game area.

The tee boxes are enormous, flat and look better than most greens you find at other course. There are upwards of 8 tee placements on every hole so players of every skill level are covered. Raven starts off with a fair, mid length Par 5, dogleg left. You've got a few choices off the first tee, attempt a baby draw up the left side and carry the bunker or play up the middle avoiding the fairway bunker on the right. Hole 3, an imposing Par 3 that can play as long as 222 yards, is slightly uphill into a tiered green overshadowed by a line of tall spruce trees up the left and flanked by bunkers greenside, a great hole. The wide fairways run through corridors of trees, the rough forgiving. The greens very generous in size and offer a test of skill without being tricky, the judicious use of bunkering to frame the fairways and green complexes provide an aesthetic appeal to a layout already loaded with natural beauty. Holes 10, 11, 12 and 15 are great fun.

Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club is a venue that should be on every golfers wish list. If you're ever given the opportunity, don't pass on it.
