Nice, quiet, peaceful

This is a private facility so you'll have to join a member to play, but it's worth it. We played late on a Friday afternoon and there weren't many people around, making it a peaceful experience.

The course was in terrific shape (the rough was a little thick) and I can imagine it'll only get better during the winter when it doesn't rain so much. I loved the variety of the par 3s especially the sixth hole that has nice elevation and a neat look.

Practice areas are great too with a nice range, a good chipping green and a couple different practice greens that all have a great view of the plantation-style clubhouse.

Tuscawilla just not a good value for your golf dollar

I have golfed at Tuscawilla many times and wonder why I keep giving it a chance. The conditions are spotty, at best, and there are SO many nearby courses that will give you significantly better value for your dollar.

Often there are bare spots in fairways and greens, bad bunker conditions with poor drainage, greens are hit or miss, tee boxes pretty torn up.... Also, if you catch it at the wrong time, you're looking at a 5+ hour round.

Again, if you are thinking about playing Tuscawilla and not too late to change, I would....you are not going to be happy there.

Good layout with average conditions

I have played Tuscawilla over fifty times in the past two years. I enjoy the layout since it has more personality than the average flat and wide Florida course. A few par 3's have elevation changes and there is a nice mix of holes with tight and wide fairways. I also remember the size of the greens being generous though most contain shelves that put a premium on distance control for me.

The usually average to fair condition of the course keeps me from giving it a higher rating. I also heard the course has recently changed hands so how this may affect the conditions is yet to be seen.

This is a nice course and it not overbooked, so no worries about playing for 5 hours.
