You get what you pay for.
For under $42 for a foursome, you can't expect Royal Woodbine standards, not even Derrydale standards.
If you want to have an easy day and spend time with friends and goof, which is what I planned for, I had a day like I expected.
Some holes are on the fairway instead of on the green because they're having a hard time maintaining the whole course. When you don't employ the right staff, the right jobs don't get done the right way. And the course is evidence of that.
The attendant said the course was in bad shape which is the truth. But they were not rude, but not overly friendly either. Just matter of fact, straight talking cashiers. Which is fine - I didn't go there to look for a date.
Some of you might read this and say it's a bad review - on the contrary!!! I enjoyed my round, and for the price, you can't beat it with any of your clubs!!! Pun absuolutely intended!
Good Practice
This course is in a very rough shape. Most of the greens are in a very rough shape to the point that they have decided to move the hole outside the green. The good news is that the place is always empty and it is great for new golfer to practice as you can take your time. This course should be taken as if you went to a driving range, as it is even cheaper to go there than to have a full bucket in most driving ranges. Highly recommended for beginners that want to experience a golf courser
Worst Course Ever
This is the worst course I have ever seen or played. I paid $6.12 which I felt was far too much for how awful this course is. I heard they're ripping it down to build houses. That might improve it substantially.
Worst golf course ive played at
Greens were way beyond repair, some of the pins were actually moved onto what used to be the fairway because the greens were so bad. Debris all over the course, bunkers are all dried out and unplayable. ive played at this course a few times this year and each time it has gotten much much much worse... wont be coming back.
castlemore no more
A driving range has better condition than this course. Owner let the course go, surprised it is still open. If I had known the condition of the course I would not have played here even if it was almost free to play. This course is great if you don't like the driving range but other than that unitl they fix it up not really a golf course.
Brutal
Looking for an inexpensive place to take my sons eight and 10 out for 9 holes... Not even a golf course! Got my money back b4 tee off!
Mr
too terrible.
no fairway. no green
never play again.
Shameful
It is a shame calling it a golf course.the tee aria in very bad shape. The putting greens are sad to look at.
Holy cow!!!
Really sad. I played this course before and was much better condition.
I understand this course is closing and maintenance is not in the plans. This course is great for beginners and taking hackers out. Parents with Thierry kids to learn is great but that is it. Value great but there is a reason for this. Sad that the course is closing.
This course should be closed
Staff was really honest and friendly. They did advise of the poor quality of the course but I didn't realize how bad it was.
Please save your money and play somewhere else!
disappointing
More weeds and dry cracked patches than grass. Website and online descriptions are misleading. The conditions were more than "rough". If they fix the greens, it could be a fun course. As it is, it is not worth the time it takes to play it.
One foot in the grave
So much potential, but outside the clubhouse, this course has been entirely abandoned. 3 foot tall weeds growing out of mud pits passed off as bunkers, if they weren't just completely over grown with grass and weeds. Horrendous greens were less than 1/2 grass with giant divots, broken pins falling out of the cup. Worst experience of my life.
Worst condition ever
I wasn't expecting a 5 star course for the price however, I was expecting a golf course. Even though homes are being built around the course, it shouldn't effect the maintenance. Greens were unplayable and dry. I almost put my foot through a missing board on one of the bridges.
The tee boxes are filled with more weeds than grass and dry.
Never again.
Castlemore Golf Club worst course...not even worth $6 Hot Deal Tee Time
Greens extremely poor, almost unputtable. Some bridges seem unsafe to cross and certain boards could collapse. There are walkways and stairways overrun by weeds. There is also house construction going on right beside course. In my opinion, this course has been abandoned by owners as it's probably already been sold to developers.
Definitely your bang for buck
It was probably my worst experience every golfing. I took a chance on a hot deal to golf here, and just the worst experience ever on the course.
The course conditions were terrible starting from the first hole where there were actual weeds growing on the "green." There's a lot of construction happening around the course so it makes for a very unpleasant trip.
Poor condition
Entire course in very poor condition , no tee box markers , no yardage markers , no staff to control pace of play, green is brown , erratic ball roll. We took 3.5 hours to finish 9 holes because there was no control.Did not even bother to finish the last hole.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone.
Regretfully , we don't think we had our money worth.
Cart was also unsafe , rails were duct tape.
And so much more ..........
As Advertised
I read the other reviews and thought "it couldn't be that bad, could it?" I was wrong. It was that bad. I know the price is cheap but it wasn't worth it. It really looks like the course had been abandoned in some parts. On half the holes you couldn't differentiate between the blue, white, and red tees. If you want to work on your short game it's great, lots of rough to work out of!
This course needs an overhaul.
The course was lacking a basic maintenance. You can loose your ball on the fairway because the grass is too long.
this is very sad to hear
once the great Moe Norman wandered these greens
I first knew it as 27 holes laid out east of airport rd
the old clubhouse, curling club and tennis courts met at the curb by young golfers working the back shop. I marshalled there a number of years before the "new" clubhouse was built and a few after, where is that green staff that took pride in a great track? Adam? Bill?
