Upgrades to the course are continuing
Not a lot of trouble for this high handicapper but if you deviate from the fairway things will get bumpy. Partial concrete cart paths are in but dirt cart paths are primary. Driving range and putting area were nice and would love to try their cafe next time, because there will be a next time.
Best kept little secret! Beautiful course!
This course has all of the amenities that a country club has with a local friendly feel. This review has been long overdue, because I must admit I have been keeping this place all to myself. I will sacrifice the 40 mile drive to play here anytime and it always has me coming back.
The course plays long and challenging if you want it to, just take your pick at the tee box and it's like another hole. This is a championship course and maintained as such (very well!).
Greens are always in great shape! Fairways are great as well.
Stay in the fairways or else you will be looking for your ball awhile. The pace of play is excellent. I've played in 3.5 hours while taking my sweet time. It's like I have an entire course all to myself!
Golf carts have club/ball cleaners and a cooler. Club house has delicious food and decently priced. Staff is very friendly and the hospitality is great! This is my hidden diamond in the rough (literally, the rough eats up your balls, keep 'em straight!)
Warner Springs Ranch
The setting for this course is beautiful, however the condition of the course, other than the greens, is marginal.
The tee boxes are terrible, there are very few yardage markers and the rough is appropriatly named. GPS system in the carts would be a major help.
Reasonably priced for the conditions.
Found this course interesting--will play again.
Found a time available with Golf Now--hints from previous players about this course were helpful to me: rough is fairly long; greens were in good condition.
Played alone (which i LOVE to do)--and never caught up to another player during my 18 holes.
I found it a bit difficult to find some holes--limited signage--seemed only to be a relatively small green colored plaque on a rock near tee of each hole. Pathway between holes did help to route players in a specific direction to the next hole, however.
Value
Value means many things. In this case a leisurely drive through rugged mountains bringing us to a very scenic course and friendly people. Yes, the course could use some work in particular the rough was very rough. Stay in the fairway and arrive at very lush greens. Many amenities await in the clubhouse including drinks and lunch.
Beautiful setting!
Warm low 80's. Cooling afternoon breeze. Perfect! Water is managed well. Few barren spots on fairways. Greens vary from soft and spongy to firm and fast but they are in good condition and generally roll true. I would prefer the second cut from the fairway to be cut lower so as not to lose my ball and have to take a stroke for laying one down. Happened maybe 8 times. Half a dozen holes have bunkers guarding the entrance to the green and I enjoyed the challenge. When timing and price coincide, I'll be back...
wish I lived there
roxie and mark do their best to assure that you have a pleasant round of golf...I rate these greens as outstanding!!...this course has come a long way since it's re-opening...it's a nice "layout" and very peaceful...highly recommend the chicken dinner....by the by, the wild turkeys seem a little nervous, but then "thanksgiving" is not that far away
I will be back!
I had a good time playing by myself today, fairways and course is a little dry overall, but the greens are in great shape. The general manager met me at my car with a cart and was very friendly getting me started. Had a solid burger and beer after the round and even saw a group of Wild Turkies on the 8th hole, very scenic course and a good value. I think I will give this a 4star rating if it keeps improving.
Scenic
Had a great time. Beautiful setting. The course was good for all levels. Plenty of choices for length with four different tee boxes. The only complaint was the tee boxes all needed mowing which was a minor thing. I will definitely go back
A good surprise
Played as a single on Thursday afternoon, finished in 3 hrs. First time here, staff was great! No GPS but scorecard had diagrams and helpful hints for each hole. Greens a little slower than I am accustom to. Long drive from SD but well worth it. Course was in pretty good shape for location, nice greens. Will play again when I want to get away for the day.
Great value
I have been playing Warner Springs monthy since Feb. The course was reopened after a long closure and the condition in Feb. showed it. Every month the condition has been steadily improving. The greens are beautiful. They are soft for approach shots, but they are very slow. The fairways are really improved. The course is a real value for the price. The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant is very good.
Nice layout
Friendly and helpful staff. Fairways tightly mown, but easy to make a divot. Lots of wildlife and no homes anywhere. Seemed like my ball flew further than normal. Greens in great shape and not a lot of break. Maybe a 9 on the stimpmeter
Nice and quiet, beautiful course
Pleasent surprise
I expected this course to be a little rough having been closed for three years prior to its November 2015 reopening.
Greens were in pretty good condition and fairways were very acceptable. All in all I agreed with their assessment that the course rated an 8 on a scale of 10.
New sand in bunkers and I noticed some redesigned holes that improved the play. I hope they keep on improving because this really is a great layout and one of the most scenic courses in the area.
This course is solid
Excellent staff and service. Golf carts are really great. They could use some work on the tee boxes. Greens are good too!
Warner Springs Ranch
Much improved since reopening. Greens were good. Fairways much better. Rough always is a free drop for us - lots of critter holes. Really enjoy the getaway at this course - no houses and lots of wildlife. Will continue to go back as it continues to improve and great deals on Golf Now!
Engaging with Mother Nature
Wide open spaces and great weather.
Unknown Jewel
This course is a pleasure to play. Unique in its settings it is a way off the beaten path but well worth the trip!
The condition is excellent and you can't beat the price.
Great setting
Best feature was playing at noon on a Sunday and no waiting. No one in front or behind us. The rough is too long, tee boxes needed trimming, some of the fairways a little rough. Enjoyed the scenery and setting.
Needs a lot of work for the money it cost..
Course is in need of a lot of work, especially cutting the grass ,rough is 6" long, looks like the cut fairways????? Nor worth what they charge us,even with our deal.
Diamond in the rough
This was my first time playing here. Arrived for a 9:06 t time and the pro shop sent me out right away on a Saturday morning. Pro shop employee very helpful and explained features of the course. I paired up with two other guys and we never saw anyone else on the course. The course itself is very rough around the edges. T boxes not mowed, the rough is really tall and greens very very slow. It's a beautiful setting, I just wish they spent more time maintaining the course. Will play here again
Course gets better everyday. Mowers are at work daily and they are watering well. Greens are good. Try it and you'll like it. No waiting. It's like a orivate course!
