Good challenge and price quality
Anjou has the great quality and challenge for the buck. The course is well maintained and offers a challenging layout. They have two very different nine holes. The front is a bit shorter, surrounded by woods with some water creeks that ask you to reconsider your club selection.
The back nine is more a Links layout with narrower fairways, more open and hilly course with high grass.
The course has great practice facilities with a chipping and putting greens and driving range on carpets.
The clubhouse has a small restaurant for convenient food and drinks. Pro shop pretty average with balls, clothes, some shoes and a golf club here and there.
So sad that a nice layout can be in that bad of a shape...
Boring and uninspired
front nine started well but I was surprised that at this time of year the course was not in better shape. The traps were unplayable- they had no sand! The greens were very unimaginative and the holes were not that interesting. Then we got to the back nine. Someone somewhere did not mention that they are aerating the greens and they used the big fairway aeration on the greens. They were unplayable- a putt could not hold its line and the speeds from one green to the next was unpredictable.
After the round I went to the pro shop to ask why there was no mention that this work was being done. I get an answer that the holes will close in a couple of days and that I was the first to complain! I just said it would be nice to be informed before paying/playing so that I know what to expect.
DO NOT PLAY HERE
I used to love this golf course. 13th is quite possibly my favorite golf hole in the world. I used to play here at often as I could. The rates are pretty cheap for the nice layout they have going.
But that was all in the past, they do not invest anymore money in this course (and that for the last 3 years). They already started demolishing the par 3 (down to 6 hole instead of 18) and I wonder when they will do the same to the par 72.
Tee off were longs and not cut, fairways were decent but the greens were the worst part of the day. I started my round with a stimp of about 7 and I'm pretty sure it dropped to 6 by the end. They were long, uneven and showed obvious wear and tear from lack of maintenance.
To top it off, my group was cut by 4 employees (clearly wearing their work clothes), while we were ordering food at the 9 1/2, who jumped in front of us at the 10th. They just drove right from 18th green to 10th tee because they wanted to play and didn't even cared that we were there. What a lack of respect.
