Five star, but not yet
The problems of this course are well documented. I played the Yorktown course today and I have to say, I was very impressed! Yes, the greens, many of them, are abysmal. But....the layout is fantastic, the scenery beautiful, the staff was nice (except for maybe the bartender......not friendly and seemed to resent being busy, although she wasn't).
If you are visiting the area on vacation, don't play here until October or so (although the Jamestown course is opening on 9/7/17)..... there are simply too many great courses in the area, no need to play on lousy greens). But.....if you can handle the greens for a few months.....I played on a Saturday in just over three hours and very much enjoyed myself....
Invited Friends to Play
I have a condo in Williamsburg (I live in MD) and play every month I'm there. Williamsburg National is always on my list. I had friends visit in June and Yorktown was an easy choice to invite them to play. The course was in excellent condition, and provides a good challenge...especially the par 3 #14 with the huge tiered green! Out of the three courses they played with me, this one was their favorite. Both courses are always in great shape and provides a solid test. The grill is also wonderful with a full menu of options and a welcoming (and quick) wait staff. You can't go wrong playing either course at Williamsburg National.
Good
Was told they change rates depends on how busy they are Won’t let people play as a twosome at there tee time Must be paired up Play there plenty of times as a twosome now all of the sudden it’s a big problem won’t be back
Great Course - Just need to lower the Bermuda Rough
Williamsburg National is one of my favorite places to play and I love the 2 courses. One thing they could do to speed up play is lowering the Bermuda rough. Ball can be very hard to find, even close to the fairways and greens. Understand having issues finding the ball with errant shots, but on several holes our foursome had issues finding balls that barely missed the greens or fairways. Other than that, keep doing what your doing.
Perfect Round!
My wife and I played for the first time at this course. Very hot 96 degrees, no wind, but perfect conditions. Course VERY well kept! Our congrats to staff. Greens, fairways, tee boxes, and sand traps were all in excellent shape. Don't know how they keep it all in that condition. Greens roll true and fair. Nice scenery, great pace of play. We enjoyed it all, and at a fair price. At Pro Shop - restroom conditions excellent. We've eaten @ their restaurant 3 times for lunch in July, 2020 - EACH time the service and food were excellent. Highly recommend this location!.
LOVE this course!!!
I play here a lot and always LOVE coming here! The course, the staff and everything else is top notch!
Sunday
My first time playing this course in years. I can’t wait to play it again. My group are going back to play their other course next Sunday.
Fun track!
Great course! Challenging greens. Plenty of bunkers making tea shot important. I will definitely come back and play.
Great time!
1st time playing this course, everyone was very friendly, course plays more open than it looks, greens were fantastic.
Fantastic Course
Course was in excellent shape. Always a pleasure to play there. Very kid friendly as well. Carts are power washed with bleach.
Good value
Eveerything was in great shape on the course. Looking forward to playing again.
Super Nice Course
Had a fantastic time playing the Yorktown today. The staff was great, pace of play was awesome (3 of us played in about 3 hours 15 minutes). Conditions were super nice! Will certainly come back again, next time we will try and play both courses!
Excellent Conditions
Course was in fantastic shape! Will certainly go back soon!
Niceguyeddy thank you first for coming out to play Williamsburg National and second for taking the time to write a review. A very good assessment of where we are. New ownership and management has been at the property for about 10 months. We have made a lot of progress but still some ways to go. The Jamestown course will open September 7th with new champion Bermuda greens and the Yorktown course is now in the process of being aerified and reseeded. We expect the thin and bare areas of the Yorktown greens to be healed by late September. This is the first negative comment we have received in regards to service we have a great team and we will address this right away. We hope to see you at Williamsburg National again soon and thank you again for your review.
