Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club - Kodiak/Black Bear Course
About
Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club sits along the Eastern Shore, sprawling across a scenic landscape of coastal dunes and grassy hollows. There are 27 championship holes at the club that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The nines, Grizzly, Kodiak, and Black Bear, are all different though they share many of the same features including winding fairways lined with native wetland grasses and oversized greens flanked by strategically placed traps. The Kodiak/Black Bear combination follows the natural contours of the coastal terrain, fully utilizing the ample sand dunes that cover the landscape. There is also plenty of water that comes into play throughout. All three golf courses at Bear Trap Dunes are challenging but they are fair and player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels.

Beautiful course and great people
The only problem with the course itself was that the greens had just been aerated and sanded and were ridiculously difficult to putt on from any angle.
The score card lacked a course layout on it and I found that inconvenient since the golf cart "card" was not very handy to use. Also, for a course like this, there should be a GPS in each cart.
Cart Died :(
In all my years I have never had this happen. On hole 12 I noticed our cart losing power. By hole 14 it was powerless. I called the clubhouse 3 times and no one answered. I then called the extension to make a tee time and got someone. He unfortunately is not onsite. He called the clubhouse and no one answered. So my partner and I took turns pushing the cart for 5 1/2 holes while trying to finish. This made for a miserable time and messed up a nice round I had going. The was only 4:50pm and because there was trivia or something going on they must have closed early.. When I bought the cart in the folks at cart return were more concerned with cleaning our clubs and getting a tip. I can’t blame them because that is what they are there after all. Despite that big hiccup the course was in great condition and pace of play was nice. I’m sure once the tourists get into town the cost will dramatically increase and I might get maybe another round in before that.
I reached out to the golf shop through the website but have not heard back. Thus this lengthy review!
Go for the Bear
Very enjoyable course to play. Challenging and full of risk-reward. The staff is very friendly and helpful...Go for the chance to play Bear Trap Dunes.
Excellent Course Layout
The course layout was great . Could move through it well . A little cold ! Excellent day of golf.
I really like Bear Trap Dunes
Winter golf rates are so.affordable through Golf Now. Played Thursday and Friday and my rate was $25 per round. Staff is great, and the course is in pretty good shape for mid-February.
Great for winter
The course was practically empty, and in great condition for the middle of winter.
Price is great this time of the year
I don’t often get to play out during the summer because of the rates going so extremely high however, through Golf now this course is extremely affordable and in great shape for the winter. I truly wish all coarses around here would offer rates to residence of Delaware, So that the locals could play all year round at affordable rates
