From the minute you pull in to the parking lot you are underwhelmed. Generally the place looks run down. The protective netting around the driving range is torn and falling down which leads to the unkempt look. The greens are in rough shape. Especially 3, 5, 6, and 9. several bunkers (four I think) are played as ground under repair. This time of year it is hard to tell about the fairways but they stood out this summer as a bright spot on the course. The staff is friendly and the food was decent, but who goes to a course because the food is good.

Reading another review the reviewer says the greens are victims of frost. That is not true. The greens began to deteriorate in the summer of 2015 because of neglect. The conditions continued to decline through out the summer of 2016, until September/October, when a new superintendent was hired. There has been some improvement but the results won't be known until this spring.

Another reviewer claims most of the members have died. Again, not true. Many members left in August and September due to the poor conditions. They are alive and well and have moved on to "greener" pastures.

In its day Woodhaven was a fun course with a great membership. Hopefully the improvements will continue and it can regain some of its former glory. For now try some of the other courses in the area.

For an older design the course has a very interesting layout. Although surrounded by houses on the front nine there is still plenty a room to hit the ball. The back nine has less houses and goes down into a valley with some tricky holes. The course is not long from the back tees but still very enjoyable. Conditions are decent. The fairways were dormant, after all it is December, but held the ball nicely. The greens were quick although there were some spots where the grass was sparse however it appeared that the course was fixing bad areas with new grass plugs so in a few months when the grass grows, the green should be very nice. I had the course to myself and played 18 holes in just two hours.

I enjoyed playing for the first time! Beautiful layout and lovely homes on every hole! Greens were good and some had patches where they were damaged by frost last year! Sorry to see another beautiful old country club having trouble because the membership is dying off and the offspring is not staying in the country club and selling to people who don't play!

This course has been private, and is offering limited tee times through Golf Now. It is only 6200 from the blues, but you need to be accurate. The course has not been overseeded for fall, and a few of the greens are spotty with thin patches or poanna grass. Overall a good course, but not up to the level of Texas Star, Grapevine, or Sky Creek.

I have been a long standing member for 20 years at this great historic Country

Club and recently the club has made the change to go to Semi-Private. I as a loyal

member am not going anywhere but do understand the nature of the business.

As someone that has never played this course before do yourself a favor and

come try out a classic tree lined out layout that you will not find anywhere anymore

due to the way golf courses are made now. A round of golf only usually take us

3 1/2 hours to be able to enjoy the rest of the day. Never have a issue with our

club.

What a wasted day! Just played my first round at Woodhaven. The course is an absolute “COW PASTURE”. The greens are dead and they haven’t watered the fairways in a long time and I do mean a long time (dirt, hard pan) . I really would not call this a golf course and to be say “Cow Pasture” is extremely mild to describe this place. Please do not waster you money there!

There was a summer when 3 of my buddies were marshals/course maintenance guys who serviced the course in trade for free tee times. They would get me on for cart fee. This was right before the almost bankruptcy, several years back, which forced the club to sell to an investor/member who knew potential when he saw it. That is definitely what this course has a lot of---potential.

Yes the surrounding neighborhood is tough with a capital "T"---but that wasn't the case when this course was originally built. All these years later the neighborhood has gone to seed, and the clubhouse and member areas are in definite need of a major spiffing up. From what I've read, that's still the case.

The course, though a little rough, was far from subsisting on life support. There were some rough patches in the fairway here an there, and some occassional hard-pan, but they went to great lengths to maintain some of the best greens in the area.

The layout is truly top notch, so much so that it wouldn't take much to bring it back to LPGA Tour Status IMHO. Yes this course used to host several LPGA Tournaments, and it will bite you in the butt if you go to sleep on it.

There are features here that you wont find on most DFW Courses, and again--the greens are, with a touch of maintenance--tour quality. No dead spots, no concrete landing pads---just nice even roll, and good grabbing power. A little TLC would go a long way.

Rumor has it that the few spots I mentioned are well on their way past the mend, and that the tee boxes are coming back to life as well. The range was state of the art for the time when it was built, but is showing it's age. Still, for a warm up area---what can I say---good stuff.

I will play this course again someday, because it really made me work to break 90, and I enjoyed it. I sure hope it is on the mend all the way around, because DFW needs more courses like this.

The staff here is friendly but as I have played this course and visited the "off course amenities", I must say that this place seems to be managed very poorly. The carts are never clean. They have a wonderful, very pleasant, 70 year old cart employee that cannot possibly do everything that must be done to ensure a country club experience. He is the ONLY cart employee I have ever seen there. I cannot believe it. The driving range rarely has enough balls to hit. If you plan on playing 18 holes at twilight, it will cost you $55 and carts must be in by 7:30!!?? The surrounding area/neighborhoods had me feeling very uneasy. The temporary restroom at the first par three on the front side was DISGUSTING the last time I played. The mens locker room is extraordinarily HOT. And aside from recent surface and building cleaning the place looks particularly unkempt. Because fees are so high for me as a guest and since there is no discount on fees at twilight and because of all of the problems listed above, I simply will not recommend nor will I return to Woodhaven Country Club.

I had 4 Ideal Golfer coupons to play the course. Unfortunately, due to a pinched nerve in my ba ck I was unable to play. My son and my golf buddies went to play. T Time was 12:30 on Saturday. When they arrived at 11:30 they were advised they couldn't get off until 2 PM, due to a tournament, and that whoever had giv en the T Time had made a mistake! The club would not let them use the driving range since it was not close enough to their T Time. My sonh and golf buddies were not impressed with the professionalism of the staff. They did like the course and would likevto play again under more friendly circumstances.
