About

Holes 18
Type Public/Municipal
Style Parkland
Par 71
Length 6784 yards
Slope 123
Rating 71.3

The Knolls Course is one of two 18-hole, municipal courses at Riverdale Golf Courses, located in Brighton. The golf course is the smaller of the two at 6,756 yards, playing to a par of 71. The team of Perry and Pete Dye deigned the golf course and they included plenty of water hazards. The Dyes also included British-links style rough and bunkers and wide fairways. Although there are some trees, the course is mostly open. The South Platte River snakes its way through the Knolls course, allowing the wind to become a factor in the game. The scattered trees and the river give golfers lovely views while they play the golf course.

Worst customer service around!

Got in a wreck night before cancelled 5 hours before tee time and still was charged for all 4 players at that tee time and they just argue! Worst place ever!

Come on

New to the area - many courses closed for season but a dozen or so remain open. Excited to find an open tee time on this highly rated course. Booked at 10:30 for a 12:30 tee time and drove an hour to the course only to find it buried in snow. Told the guy at the desk what happened and said “well the head pro hasn’t been in yet to block off the tee sheet but you can see there’s too much snow to play”.
Thanks bro. Wasted 2 hours of my life on a beautiful day because this course doesn’t have the common courtesy to indicate when closed. Called the 2 other courses that showed open tee times and they were both open.
I’ve been traveling the country golfing, biking, and hiking with my girlfriend all thru Covid. We played 100+ rounds in 2021 in over 20 states. This is my first review because the inconsiderate behavior of the course just rubbed me the wrong way. Area leaves much to be desired. Will review all courses going forward. Buyer beware. Tried to upload pics but it wiped out review each time.

GPS Beeping

It's a good course but they have this annoying GPS system that beeps if pace of play is slow and has a habit of going off when you are on the tee box. It is particularly annoying when the slow players are walking and don't hear it. It's a good course ans fun to play, just wish they would have the marshal move it along other than that.

Decent layout nasty management

Treated unprofessionally on numerous occasions at this course. The course superintendent was unstable, aggressive, and confrontational for a simple cart path driving error by a playing partner.
The clubhouse acknowledged her aggressive behavior as if it’s some sort of pattern. Nice layout, Horrible service.

Don’t sleep on The Knolls

This is the older of the two courses at Riverdale, it is a parkland setting, and many of the holes are not very imaginative, but the course is not easy. You will need to bring a solid mid to short iron game to attack this one, and good luck on the greens.

Believe it or not, the Knolls is longer than the Dunes from the Blue tees and is also rated more difficult. In my opinion that is all in the approach shots, and very difficult par 3s.

Most of the greens at The Knolls are elevated so it is difficult to roll a shot up onto them. You will need to carry your ball to the surface to be home in regulation, The Dunes offers several shots where you can easily roll your ball on the green from the fairway Links style.

I find that the teeth of the course is in the Par 3s with three of them measuring at least 180 from the Blue tees. Your only reprieve is the fairly short 17th, which is surrounded by bunkers. Hole 11, a par 4 with a risk/reward tee shot over a canal and long second to the green up a hill, is probably the toughest hole of all 36 on the property, and the par 4 18th requires a good tee shot between a huge tree and lake to have a nice look at the green.

Golfers who may have a little trouble hitting the ball straight will not find themselves in too much trouble on many holes. The Knolls does offer quite a bit of forgiveness off the tee, but there are a few sections of OB, and look out for the canals running across many of the holes that can tend to grab a few balls.

You can expect to see pristine conditions all over this track during the season, and the greens, since they are older than The Dunes, tend to be quicker and roll smoother in my opinion. You will also need to check your reads on several putts as there are many subtle breaks in these beauties. I’ll say the greens on The Knolls are the best in the (public access) metro area.

Riverdale Knolls doesn’t appeal to the golfer’s eye quite like The Dunes, but it is a solid test of golf for anyone looking for a fun round on a well maintained course. The knolls offers great value and is always a day well spent!

Great course, where is the marshal?

Great course and a great value. Bad luck had me paired with two beginners. All about people learning the game but hitting 3-4 tee shots a hole and leaving your cart in horrible places when you have a group behind you. Would have loved to see a marshal come talk to these guys. Too many whiskey shots, such little know how of the game.

Hope to come back and play with a better group.
Otherwise, wonderful experience!

Great Course

Great course, very wide open so if you have a slice or hook you are still ok to play. There are very challenging par 5's as well so it isn't all wide open and easy. Great course overall.

Fantastic value!

The Knolls is in fantastic shape and has some of the cleanest and best manicured fairways and greens in the Denver area. Probably the best value for normal pricing that I’ve played in the Denver area. The greens are smooth but not quite as quick as the Dunes. A much more relaxing round of golf than it’s Pete Dye counterpart but still had its challenges. Hit ‘em well and you’ll score well but a few errant shots will really cost you. The course is a lot of fun and the only non-positive thing I could say about it is that it could use a little more fairway undulation and bunkering. Other than that I absolutely loved playing here. Will be back soon.
