An accurate tee shot from the towering tee above the par-4 5th leaves you this short but challenging approach. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The 2nd hole and adjacent 17th are both longish uphill par-4s that are nearly mirror images. Par is a good score on either. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Not a lot of flat lies in the landing zone on the par-4 12th, making the approach that much tougher. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-4 14th is the first time you encounter a water hazard on this course, a nice reprieve. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

THe par-3 15th also has water in view, giving you back-to-back opportunities to lose your lucky Noodle. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

The par-5 18th is just a super cool golf hole. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 06/02/2020

Finally! A course that makes sense for average Golfer!
Tired of being brutalized by spring weather and tough course conditions, my weekly foursome took a week off and we returned from a break to this jewel !
Although about double the cost of our usual round, we all agreed, this place was worth it.
1. Played on a Monday at 12:15pm, the place was very quiet. Only saw five other foursomes all day. Pro encouraged us to hit some balls at the range (Included) regardless of our tee time.
2. The staff was super friendly, without being pushy. This had us staying for lunch, trying a demo club and taking the time to learn the GPS enabled golf carts.
3. The course is still waking up from winter, but was in good shape. This Ernie Els designed course feels like it has 10 signature holes! Great vista's without being super hard! In fact the white tee's played "short", the fairways are very wide off your drive and the undulations & sand traps have meaning (instead of just wearing down my ankles)
Just about my only complaint here is the distance between some greens and the cart path, but even this is rewarded with "bowls" around greens that seemed to move errant approach shots towards the flag.
Bottom Line: Although we lucked out with clearing conditions, very few players on the course and some long putts that found their mark, Whiskey Creek was the perfect spot to rekindle enthusiasm for the game. After playing so many courses in our area that seem intent on torturing the intermediate golfer, this place just embraced us... It is more expensive, but would gladly spend double playing here (even if we played just 1/2 as often). I never gave it much thought but, in this case, the course designer has actually created "value".
For older players, nothing ruins a round like a lay up hole, where you are forced to lay up with second or third shot, then still have an impossibly long approach shot over some hazard. This course had two such holes, but after laying up, you were left with approach shots that were just 110-140 yards. giving you a shot a long par putt where elsewhere you would be guaranteed double bogie.
Whiskey Creek wont save the game of golf in America, but they are trying.
Very nice course
This continues to be a very good course. Some of greens were recently punched and they were repaving some of the cart paths. Rest of the course was in very good condition.
CB
Pretty great course and one I would recommend to anyone that can break 95- my only complaints are that the greens were being aerated ( but they made it up to us reducing greens fees without even being asked) and that the snack cart only came one time after 230 tee time -
Really nice course
I will definitely play here again they have a nice clubhouse with really good breakfast sandwiches. The course was practically mint and really fun to play with some beautiful views.
aeration
i understand aeration seasons but a little heads up before charging full price. we play here alot
A MD GEM
If you like countryside golf. This is it.
The drive in is always enjoyable.
Post drinks & eats a must.
Gorgeous course, pin placements felt tough for winter
This was my first time at Whiskey Creek and I can see why it gets such good reviews. The course is stunningly beautiful, and I can only imagine what it must play like in spring/summer. For a cold winter day the course was in great condition. The bunkers were pretty wet/compacted so I couldn't give a review of what they're like normally.
The hole layouts were varied and interesting, and were challenging without being overly penal if you took sensible lines (with the exception of 17 and 18 which were just tough). The rough was pretty deep and certainly a challenge in places. I thought the par threes were a particular highlight - they were all very different, and required thoughtful club selection and aim points. The course is extremely scenic - particularly the latter half of the front nine.
My one complaint was hole locations - very few of the hole placements today would have been conforming for a tournament, as they were either cut 5-6ft from the very edge of the green, or on fairly severe up/down/side slopes that transitioned between swales on the green. The green complexes are already challenging, and on some holes it made approach play close to impossible - and then putts lagged to 2-3ft would often continue to roll away from the hole or have severe snap on short range putts. Given the greens have been aerated and it's December, this felt a bit excessive for winter golf.
The aeration was a lot more noticeable on the greens than I was expecting, but for the most part putts rolled true, I only had two putts the whole round that were knocked offline by the aeration holes.
It is a really strong golf course, and I look forward to coming back, but I hope today's hole placements were an aberration and not the norm.
Great course
Always a good time here. Course is in great condition and the staff is always very friendly.
Plugged Greens
Course is beautiful and the weather turned out great. Greens were plugged and should have been a simple discount offered at point of check-in. Customer service goes a long way to obtain repeat golfers! Trying to be a goodwill Ambassador to golf friendly courses. Another rule should be for amateur golfers should pick up and move to next hole after reaching triple bogey. It will force the amateur to want to finish on the green vice out in the fairway. This will help pace of play on the weekend and also during the week on many courses.
Awesome course and beautiful setting
Great course in excellent condition. Pace of play was perfect and the course was in beautiful condition. Lots of trees so leaves are a factor this time of year but it was still an incredible time.
