First time in years
I used to play Riverside quite a bit years ago and returned with out-of-town guest. It was in very good shape for all the rain we've had this year. Greens were in excellent shape. It was always one of my favorite courses on this side of DFW. The pace of play was horrible, though. VERY slow group of four in front of us which was adamantly opposed to letting my twosome play through, and there were no course marshals to be found. The GPS system was off on pin placements on virtually every hole, too. Playing to what you think is a front pin on a green that's 60 feet deep when the pin is actually back is not a good thing.
Never got thirsty!
Course conditions were very playable even with one hole still holding water (but it was ripped off) and the greens were in great shape. Weather was cool in the AM at tee time but warned quickly and Taya, out cart girl, was readily available and quick too serve us so we didn't keep players waiting. It was great to hear that they staff three beverages cart seven days a week. So many others courses struggle to match this feature. I think we found out spring and summer favorite course.
Love Riverside
I've played here countless times. Course is tough enough for any golfer. The water really makes you control your tee shot, the greens make you control your 2nd shots. 18 is one of the toughest pars 4s around but I still come back with hopes of conquering it
Rough kept course
Good value w coupons, easy to get on. Needs course guides as holes are hidden.
Conditions good for winter
Overall good compared to many public courses I have played over past two months. Greens a little bumpier than normal. Most fairways in good dormant shape.
Great for the Money
Winter conditions. Cart paths in awful disrepair. Some tee boxes have no grass. Greens in great shape. No GPS on carts.
Decent course
Pace of play has never been issue with this course so I always enjoy that. Cart girl comes around frequently which is even better. Fairways are in pretty bad shape and the greens are in so so shape. Some challenging holes on the front 9 with blind tee shots but overall not a bad course.
Been a minute
I did not have a tee time and this was the only course that had an early afternoon time available last minute. Greens were in great shape, held
very well and rolled well. Fairways are in good shape. Now the pace of play was very slow and was not extremely busy. Took 2:30 hours to play front nine. Back nine sped up thankfully was still
4:30 hour round and barely finished before it was took dark to see.
Riverside reasonable golf
No frills, nothing fancy great for the budget or beginner golfer. White tee's on the front 9 plays shorter than average, plenty of water and green side bunkers moderate elevation challenges, I need to check the yardage stats. Have not played the back Nine, looking forward to play it this season
Pro Shop and Starter Disaster
Had tee time @ 7:40am as I booked it two days prior since only one spot was open.
Once I checked in, I went down to tee box waiting on the other 3 players. A group drove up and said that they had the 7:40am tee time in which I told the that I was the fourth player. The group said that the pro shop added their fourth player and for me to play ahead. After I teed off, the starter said that he couldn’t let me go myself and would had to wait for an opening.
After 3 groups of four teed off in front of me after my tee time, the starter said that there 4 more groups of four and that I would be waiting a while. I told the starter that it was not right and I went back to pro shop.
I told the pro shop that I wanted my money back and he didn’t understand why it was a problem. The lack of common sense and golf courtesy is unacceptable.
I’ll be contacting the city and owner of golf course.
