Big ben
Good challenging golf course a couple long holes greens in great shape and pretty fast. Friendly staff bar and kitchen upstairs was a bonus.
Challenging course
Greens were in great shape. Fairways were playable and maintained. My only complaint are the cart paths. Very dangerous in some areas due to cracks, potholes and 6-12 inch drop offs along the edge. Get the cart paths in better condition and you'll have a great course.
Really enjoy this course. This is one of my "go to's" in East Texas. Greens are in good condition. The clubhouse is always freindly and knowledgable about course layout and conditions. I recommend this course to anyone visiting Nacogdoches or surrounding areas.
This golf course has great potential
The fairways and greens were good. Greens were very firm but slow when putting. Tee boxes were a little dry. Course routing was somewhat unusual. Cart paths were very bumpy in some locations. No food service available, eat before you get there. Course is worth playing at the Golf Now discount rate.
Great course!
This place is excellent. Greens are in good shape for east Texas. They roll so true and have some very unique configurations that can be challenging. Fairways are tight but in good shape. Several holes require you to think about not only your tee shot but what type of next shot you want. Sand in bunkers is brand new and makes the bunker play very challenging.
Overall, if you get the chance, treat yourself and enjoy this course!
Very nice
Formerly the Pineywoods Country Club, Lumberjack National has made a 180 degree turn around since my last round here about 5 yrs ago. The greens are still small but were perfect. Not a bad spot on any of them. The fairways and tee boxes had grass. The new owners are doing great and the staff was friendly and very inviting. The fairway on 5 was under repair for irrigation it looked like so that was the only bugaboo but they are fixing an issue which is great. Not just putting a bandaid on it. I will be back
Nice course wish it was cheaper
The course was in much better shape than the last time I played it. The fairways were good and greens were were rolling true. We were following a slow twosome and no course marshals to be seen. I wish the course was cheaper to play, pretty much doubled in price since the last time I played here. Despite some negatives , I’ll be back; it’s too close to home to pass up.
Excellent condition
Greens are in great shape, fairways are excellent too! Highly recommend!
Remodel in Progress
The course was in good shape (fairways & greens). The clubhouse, amenities, and cart paths are obviously being remodeled. The course layout has been changed, as well. For example, #10 is now #1 and several other back nine holes are now the front nine. Overall, the course was worth the price if you can overlook the remodels and confusion with the new layout.
Bad Times
The course is in decent shape, but most of the carts are either broken or in bad shape. The cart paths are mostly broken and busted. This course has seen better days.
First Time
The course was in nice shape they were remodeling the clubhouse so the staff were in a temporary building. I didn't play very well ,but I love the course layout.
Excellent course, staff not so much
The course was in great conditions, layout is really good. Staff was not friendly at all. Would recommend to play it, hopefully you get a better experience with the staff.
Hidden Gem...
This course is nice. The extraordinarily wet weather has this course in very wet conditions, so right now you should expect to play lift and clean, but there aren't any places in East Texas right now that aren't wet.. Still for the money it is one of the least known about great courses in East Texas.
The fairways are narrow and staying in the fairway is the key to playing this course well. Great layout that forces you to think your way around the course. Several holes where it is beneficial to leave the driver in the bag. Greens are small and hard to hit but they are in decent shape and they roll true!
Clubhouse is wonderful. Staff is extremely nice. If you are in the East Texas area you should definitely give this course a try. If you live in the Nacogdoches area, they are running an incredible membership drive right now, you should give them a call and ask for details (only runs through March so hurry).
