Course Layout

Challenging yet rewarding course, tough and demanding course at time but some holes where the course allows you to steady your score.

Very good for the money

We played in December after quite a bit of rain so the course was boggy in places but nearly all the greens were in very good condition considering the amount of rain they'd had. It was £15 pp for 18 holes which is really cheap and 100% worth the money. Not a bad course at all. The bar was closed when we finished but that's probably because of the date but wouldn't have minded a beer after the round.
Will be playing there again

Good value for money

Course was generally good condition. Far too many leaves on the second but overall a good course . The bacon butties. We’re however precooked and terrible. Requesting well done bacon meant it was merely cooked longer with the bun in the microwave. Let everything else down

Very Disappointing

While I appreciate the difficulty of keeping an area of this size in top condition, to say we were disappointed is an understatement.
The Green were obviously under maintenance, something clubs would do well to advise people before booking. However there is maintenance and there is what we found, lumps of sand and weeds and pins which don’t look like they have changed positions in weeks.
Bunkers we were informed were all GUR. The semi and rough were punishing to say the least and the Teeing areas looked like they needed moving to give them time to repair. Whole place smacks of a lack of investment and staffing. Two members of our party are green keepers and understand the difficulties, however this was as bad as we have seen. Place has potential but won’t be returning.

A little disappointed

The bunkers are in a bad state. 2 greens are a bit rough but otherwise all was good.

Flat course but plays long

You need your driver on point to score low here even with the course being flat the driver needs to be straight and accurate to avoid the trees and strategically placed bunkers . If the Greens get some TLC This would be a great track

Potential just not realised

A great price for 18 holes on a Sunday afternoon but the course needs so much work to make golfers want to come back and play again, the layout is fine and walking is easy as the topography is very flat but the course needs a lot of attention in particular the maintenance of the bunkers is possibly as bad as I’ve seen at a members club and the greens are so soft, bumpy and slow as to make it feel like your putting on fairways at times.
With some targeted investment at specific course improvements this could be an enjoyable round for most people and although limited in its design and relatively easy compared to other courses in the area you feel the course should be in better condition at this time of the year.
Currently this course is enjoyable and forgettable in equal measures but could and probably should offer the golfer more.

Boothferry Park , really nice course

Not my first time playing here, my brother and i played here back when course first opened after covid where we only managed 14 holes dues to the fading light and freezing conditions. However we really enjoyed what we had experienced and were keen to return in the summer. The course is essentially as flat as they come so easy enough to walk but this tree lined parkland course is nicely mature and really interesting to play. Like many other courses there are ditches and drains creating water hazards to look out for on fairways, bunkers were ok, some were not raked and both myself and brother took a turn in one of these unkept bunkers which was a shame. The greens were in good condition many with subtle slopes but were a slower than we are used to on our course where we are members(Sandburn Hall nr York). Some of the tees are shielded by trees which we really liked .We didnt use the facilities at the clubhouse but noticed plenty of members enjoying drinks outside when we teed off. The proshop is small but well stocked. I was greeted by a pleasant young lady who checked me in ready to play.
In summary, a really nice interesting course that i would highly recommend, we will be visiting again in the near future. Mark

Friday afternoon game

Played before and enjoyable
Today though greens were very poor, needed cutting slowest I've played 7x 3 putts and I'm normally good. Couldn't get used to slowness.
Still enjoyable, layout good, can't get in much trouble of tees
Friendly staff, nice amenities.
Will go again hopefully better greens.

Great course

Very picturesque course nicely manicured. The bunkers didn’t hold much sand though, and the greens could have been rolled and cut shorter because they were slow.
That aside, a great day.

Patchy poor greens & fairways not cut

Driving range not open until 09:30 on Bank Holiday Monday, tee time booked for before then.
Putting green not cut.
Fairways not cut and daisies growing in them. Thicker than first cut at most local courses.
Greens patchy and not consistent pace.
Not even worth the £17 we paid and won’t be returning. Should have asked for a refund it was that poor, do not play.

Slightly disappointed

Having read other reviews before booking was expecting better. The pro shop staff were friendly and helpful but the course was average at very best. The fairways had not been cut and the greens were quite poor, patchy and bobbly on some. Tee boxes were also not great. There are some nice holes to play and the layout is good. Overall, Not a course we will be rushing to play again
