Course should have been closed
Course remained open even though it was unplayable and have to leave course after a few holes. No refund was given.
Disgrace
This course has so much potential but they just dont put any effort into it.
- Most of the greens are in poor condition
- The bunkers are overgrown with weeds
- The fairways are a disgrace, the length of the grass was equal to that of the rough.
- tee boxes have no grass on them.
I wouldnt even pay £10 to play here again, its just not worth it
Dog muck on the first Tee
Dog muck on the first Tee then got slowed up by people sneaking on at the 9 Tee not enough tables outside for an after drink game shame as the rest of the course was ok
Inconsistent Greens
The greens weren’t consistent, some just kept running others the ball would stop short going downhill. I’m in no rush to go back.
Good course could be better
Played this course about 6 years ago felt it was a great course then, yesterday when I played the course had a lot of rain over the weekend so was boggy in places, tees weren’t that good very patchy, fairways good but not much run due to the rain bunkers were being dealt with by green keepers although not much sand in some and very compact, green were ok but very slow due to rain and some had a lot water still on so were spongy in places. Directions to next hole could be better and would be helpful if on the tees they had the hole number at least preferably the yardage and shape of hole with hazards photo on.
Some holes are a bit of a walk to the hole. And some greens were bumpy b cause of players failing to repair pitch makes and so looked like people had been playing chip soys off.
Overall a good course with potential with more frequent looking after by both players and green keepers.
Don't waste your money
5 balls on the course , like playing on a farmers field , greens shocking
There was a long queue on the 1st tee which resulted in 40 minutes delay to our original tee time .
The pace of play was also really slow too didn't complete a full round due to the amount time it was taking which was disappointing
Course was OK bit boggy in places due recent heavy rain greens were OK too.
You get what you pay for
It's clearly an old muni course that needs a bit of love, but for under 20 quid you can grumble too hard. What is a huge issue is there appears to be no structure to bookings and groups of five or six as a regular occurrence. I've been early morning and afternoon on weekends and you can be queueing for some time just to get going, then again and again. It'd be fine for a quick 9 or 18 if it was that. Today it took 2 hours 40 to get through 9, for example.
Slow play but ok course
I booked as the course looked empty when I arrived there was a group of 5 on the first tee and 2 singles waiting at my tee time. Once I finally got to tee off I noticed another group of 6 in front of the group of 5. I had to skip 3 holes just to get past them all.
Still needs work
Hadn't been here since it had been taken over. I see they spent their money on the bar on nothing on the course. Like trying to play on a football pitch in 1985 towards end.of season.
A couple of quid less than a private course but not worth it
Clearly the owners are doing a lot of work and in time it probably will be a good course again but in its current state it’s just not worth it.
Tee boxes were a mess, not tee numbering or yardage boards, uneven and muddy.
Greens were slow and bobbly and peppered with pitch marks they no one has repaired.
Bunkers had grass and weeds growing in them.
We booked online and turned up on time yet had to let a group through who had booked direct via the shop and were 20 mins behind their tee time as “it’s the right thing to do and etiquette” according to the person in the booth.
Small little shop area to buy a bag of tees and a glove only.
Nowhere to get changed or sorted out. No where to sit afterwards.
The car park is shared with a children’s play park and a small cafe so is very busy very quickly.
not worth the money when for a couple of quid more you can play a private golf course with better facilities and in a better condition
Excellent Course all round
Fantastic place to play golf. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The golf course is in perfect condition the greenskeepers have done a fantastic job over the winter. Fairways and greens are brilliant.
To slow and poor condition
Booked in for 10am, tie off 10.15 very slow play took over a hour half to do 4 holes.
Walk way a mess, fairways like local fields, bunkers shocking unplayable, the greens not to bad for this time of year.
Parking is far from golf shop.
Seems like alot of work has been done on parking and eating areas but zero on the golf course
Waste of Money
9 holes open and not advised...greens like glass...should never of been open
Course in excellent condition
All holes in really good condition fairways and greens, only downside directions to next holes is not very good if not played before would struggle to find way around course
Don't waste your money
I've played a few times over the years but since the council reclaimed it over a couple
Of years ago it not improved at all. Slow wooly greens not cut short enough just like the fairways like a second cut at best Tee boxes just like rough . 2 lots of 5 balls on the course. Bunkers full of weeds with no rakes. The website boasts its the oldest municipal in England , if invest some money in looking after the course and not just promoting a clubhouse .
Worst course I have ever played!!!
By far the worst course I have ever played.
The whole place is covered in dog walkers with loose dogs, running across greens and down fairways dog walkers, appearing randomly from trees lining fairways.
Whole place is a bug, Green is absolutely terrible, whole course covered in tree debris.
Potential to be a good course , ground keeping non existent
Course layout good and some interesting holes, lots of mature trees and some challenging tee shots but unfortunately the fairways were like rough/ semi rough in places. Greens were very slow and a bit bumpy though it had been raining for a few days but even so I’d expect better. The holes on the other side of the motorway were so boggy to be unplayable, drainage needs sorting. With a bit of investment thougb this course will be good and a nice challenge.
