Awesome, if you're fit!
Although not long if the course was ironed out flat it would surely be championship length! It's very hilly and some holes cross other fairways. If you don't mind those negatives it is awesome, especially on a perfect day like ours was when there are picturesque views for miles, lovely peace and quiet with no road noise. Nearly every hole is a different challenge and all are in excellent condition. Very enjoyable.
Wonderful Course Stunning View
Course in great condition. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it has an easy slope rating or that it’s short, this course offers a great challenge and will test you. The course is set in the Chiltern Hills and as they’re chalk based in this area, the course is playing well.
Friendly club and a great 19th hole- food is excellent. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
Tough course
Need to a fit healthy person unlike myself, some big hills to deal with. Course was in very good condition. Greens were running true. Challenging for any player but enjoyed the day. Will definitely be playing in the summer when buggies are allowed.
Course in great condition.
Unfortunately for us the kitchen and bar were closed for servicing.
Staff were very friendly though..
It was cold and wet when we finished. The lady from the pro shop kindly made us a hot drink.
Nice.
Lovely course with magnificent views
Really enjoyed our round at Chiltern Forest. It’s very hilly so may not be suitable for some golfers. Course in great condition, some interesting holes and it wasn’t busy. Lovely terrace overlooking the 18th with wonderful views.
No halfway house and unpleasant toilet hut with no light are my only criticisms.
Always a Treat
I always look forward to playing Chiltern Forest, one of my favourite courses. The course is also gorgeous to look at with great views. As ever it was in immaculate condition throughout. It's a short course but because it's so hilly it feels much longer. For example the tricky 8th par 3 plays to a shallow green on a hillside ledge and measures just 132yds off the yellow tee but plays more like 180yds. One of many optical illusions that can catch you out. It's a compact course so in a few places you cross the fairways of other holes, if that doesn't bother you it's well worth a visit.
The clubhouse is excellent too with good local ale and food. We always notice a friendly atmosphere not only in the clubhouse but around the course too. I just wish it was closer!
Fri 18 Aug
Love the course but we had to walk off at 9 holes as there was a queue on the 10th. It would have been a 5 and a half hour round.
Loved the course but slow play
First visit tobthis coursevand absolutely loved the setting. Tees in good conidition as were the fairways. Have s strange way of aerating the greens in lines so sometimes your putt would follow these lines.
Play was very slow, we were a two ball who caught up a fourball of 'older' players, mostly female. Who didnt offer ys to play through until about the 6th hole when they werent happy with a drive of mine which.chased right up to them, but they were only playing nine holes. Unfortunately a 4 ball directly in front of them werent at a reasonable standard so were playing 4 - 5 shots to a 1 of ours and we're not very good ( 19 handicappers) so wete behind them until the 15th when they offered us thrpugh...5hrs for a two ball is very slow going...even staff in clubhouse were asking we're the issies were. Very hilly, good cardio workout as well..
a beautiful course set in the edge of the chilterns _ very up and down
some very interesting holes
Unfortunate mix up
At writing this I am still awaiting correspondence regarding refunding my money. After being advised post booking that two buggies were secured we arrived prior to our tee time to be informed that no buggies were booked. Following a short discussion I provided dates and times of calls etc to prove otherwise. The course were apologetic but could do nothing to rectify as a society were booked to use all.we had to leave.
I have contacted the course regarding the fact that again denying that any money had been paid my credit card statement shows otherwise.
Could i ask that if any one reads this action is taken to rectify this situation. I would like this actioned within two days of writing this or I will be informing my CC company to recover the payment.
Thank you.
