Better than 3 star course
Played 2 rounds here in very hot conditions this weekend. Thought it was better than the average reviews I’ve read. Tee boxes were a bit tired but could find a flat spot on all. Greens, fairways and rough all well maintained. Took 4hrs for a two ball so a little slow but not horrendous at the weekend. It was a bit hilly and hot though so people probably taking their time. Also, it’s a golf stay type place and not the easiest course to navigate so some hunting for wayward shots. A reasonable challenge but longer hitters might find it a bit boring. Facilities off course were ok. Staff seemed friendly. But being a golf stay/wedding type place the bar etc get dominated by large groups quite easily.
Golf at the Cotswolds Golf and Spa
This was the 3rd time we had visited this course, and was probably in worst condition, with fairways much too long. Food was as good as ever along with the accommodation.
The thing I am really annoyed with was that after the 2nd round we put our clubs and other equipment in my van, while we had a quick drink before returning home, and 25 minutes later we returned to find our belongings stolen. when we informed the club of this they said there was another van that been broken into as well. They had CCTV of the incidents, but would not let us see it. They said they had been waiting on the phone for the police as were not allowed to ring 999, inferring that it had happened in the past. Despite this there were no obvious signs to warn of this.
So I would advise anyone visiting this hotel and golf course to not leave anything in their vehicles!
Terrible condition
Played this course a few years back and it was in good condition, played recently and it was awful. Some greens are in poor condition, fairways have been ruined by buggy’s and bird pecking . There is rubbish all over the place, the tees are worn and the course is tired. A lot of work is needed to get this back to the condition it was in previous but I won’t be playing again anytime soon.
Waste of a Friday afternoon!.
We as a 3 ball turned up to play 18 holes, really slow to the point where when we reached the 10th hole there were 2 4 balls and a single player waiting for 10 minutes to tee off. We as a result walked off and finished our round. £35 for that experience!. We were waiting on every hole and the club clearly are putting too many people on the course and not managing pace of play etc.
The greens were in awful condition in terms of pitch marks not being repaired. There were at least half a dozen on every hole and I have never experienced anything like it anywhere. 3 very disappointed golfers.
A hidden gem
I like to play lots of different courses, so golf now is great for me.
Sometimes they are good sometimes they are a bit worn down.
This one was way better than I expected, really well kept, I felt like I was playing at one of the big courses, great fairways, even better greens. Nice mix of holes.
The only thing I’d improve is a couple of the bunkers could have had more sand in, don’t get me wrong they where better than most but 1 I was in was very firm. The other 3 I found myself in where good tho.
If you are in 2 minds about is it worth it, will it be good,
You will be happy I was massively. I’ve payed twice this green fee and had worse courses.
Hope this helps

Pretty cool views, but pricey!
Pretty good course! For the money I would've expected a bit nicer tee boxes and course conditions, but overall a good track!
Cotswold Chipping Norton Golf
Great layout in a lovely location. Front 9 a stern test but back 9 no pushover. Greens good if a bit slow. Bunkers in very good condition. Teeing areas very good. Would recommend for a society day which we were.
First time playing
Nice layout and in good condition. The only challenging part is there no course layout anywhere, not on scorecards, not in a map and not on placards. There are plenty of blind shots and this would have been helpful. Otherwise, a great course, fast paced and fun.
Miserable Professional and 8 ball group on course
Played here last week, the course professional was miserable, but to our amazement he was allowing an 8 ball group of golfers out on the course, 7 ball group the day before. Won’t be playing here until they get there act together!.
Nice course - Make sure you have plenty of time
I've played this course twice, both time I've enjoyed the variety of interesting holes and condition of the course. However, both times I've played the course has been hugely busy, very slow pace of play with regular tee box back up. The second time I played in a 2 ball and the 4 ball in front didn't ask us to play through despite clearly holding us up. Full of 'stay and play' groups. Tee times too close together
Great all round
Had a great round at this course today would highly recommend.
Also my playing partner Gavin Julian managed to have a members bounce from the start, but I didn’t let that spoil the day as he did come through with the win
Great course, challenging but appealing for all abilities
Really enjoyable round.
Course was in lovey condition despite the weather conditions. Tight fairways, some challenging slopes but nice open greens.
Had a great round and can’t wait to come back.
Decent
First time playing this course. Won't be the last.
Well laid out, plenty of variety and a fair amount of challenge.
The tee boxes are the only letdown, with most of them we played today being in play for a day or two much. They aren't particularly level either.
Greens were receptive, pace good and even across all 18 holes.
Round in 3.5 hours, followed up with a bacon, egg and sausage bap at hole 19.
Really enjoyable, will pay again someday soon. Price was fair
