Tremendous course
Beautiful course with a really interesting layout, great facilities, a pleasure to play.
favourite golf course
Our for ball play se real courses in leeds but this is our overall favourite both from a challenge point of view but also an enjoyment point of view
Thick thick rough and hard fairways
Friendly staff but a challenging course with quite a few dog legs. Tee boxes were a bit scruffy but I have seen worse. The fairways were like concrete so any draw or cut would put you straight into the rough which was unbelievably long and thick all over the course.
The greens were very good although once again firm so stopping an approach shot was almost impossible. Bunkers were unpleasant made worse by the fact the group in front of us were not able to rake after use for some reason. Talking of said group their pace of play was very slow and they refused to let us play through. They managed to loose 3 holes to the group ahead and were totally oblivious to fact.
Need to put some extra signposts up around the course. A water fountain on-course would be nice as well as a WC somewhere.
Great course
Enjoyed the course, everything was in a good condition
Lovely course, punishing rough
Really enjoyed the round. Course was in good condition, greens especially were excellent.
Hit a few errant shots that found the 2nd cut and lost them. With the amount of water and OB in play I'd want the rough shorter. But that's more my problem than theirs!
Lovely parkland course
First time playing here and hope to return soon. Really friendly staff in the pro shop and the course is very idyllic. Most holes give you something to think about with strategically placed water hazards, fairway bunkers and doglegs left and right. Really liked the nice touch of having a QR code to scan fo donate to the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity if you put your tee shot into the water on one of the park 3s. Given the wet weather we’ve had the course was quite soggy and squelchy in lots of places so you weren’t always getting full value for your tee shots as they’d tend to plug on landing but the greens were in excellent condition. Most fairways were quite wide to give the high handicapper like myself a decent chance of being in play. Winter green fees were a bargain £18 and would be more than happy to pay full price and return in the summer to experience the course at its best.
Very poor in winter
Extremely muddy and the course is an absolute mess in winter. Would wait until summer. No issue with staff or facilities. It’s just not a winter course - some holes closed. Everything covered in mud and course should be closed over winter
SLOWEST ROUND OF GOLF EVER
Played here many of times before but today was absolutely awful. The pace of play was outrageous. At one point there were 4 groups on a hole and regularly 3 groups on every hole. The tee time table is not well managed at all and for a Tuesday morning round this is just not acceptable which is a shame as the course has a great layout and some beautiful holes too. Won’t be in a rush to come back here at all.
Excellent Greens
Very enjoyable round - the greens and fairways were excellent.
Negatives - we were stood around waiting to play the next shot quite a lot and we were very disappointed with the general state of the tee boxes and very surprised that several were winter mats (including a mat on a plastic pallet 17th hole!!)
Lovely course. 100% will be coming back, but next time in the summer as it doesn’t drain very well in the winter.
